I respectfully disagree hoedaddy. Ross Perot lost for a variety of reasons and one of them is the fear you advocate. Having the two-party mindset is how these people stay in power. We (Republicans and Democrats) need to break free from the fear of what would happen if we didn't vote for "our" party. Ross Perot won 19% of the vote which is quite respectable and remarkable given all of the reasons people didn't vote for him. I wouldn't use him as example of why not to have a third party but as an example for having a new party. If enough people summon the courage to make the change to find the best candidate and not the party candidate, then we all win.

Minuteman79 - I agree 100%. They have lost our trust and they don't get it. You can put lipstick on a pig and it is still just a pig. They cannot regain our trust with lipstick. Actions speak louder than words and their actions are incongruent. They need to change their actions, not their words.

Altair, I'm not from Fort Wayne but you can go to Meetup.com and look up "Fort Wayne We Surround Them". You can get in touch with locals and get involved.

I think we need to target Congress hard and never let them out of our sights. Write or call our reps weekly, write letters to the editors of local newspapers about their actions, tea party at the reps local offices (or homes if necessary), and participate in a primary and support the best candidate, not party. Yes, I know they won't listen but if we are all consistent and come at them from many angles, I think they will eventually take notice. Squeeky wheel gets the oil.
We should also either infiltrate and neutralize ACORN or form our own voter awareness group. We should work to change the election laws in our corresponding states so that we can have a clean and secure election process. We need to guard against groups like ACORN from stealing elections with loopholes and political correctness. Elections should be fair to both those who run and those who vote no matter which party they represent.

I agree with the pressure which is why I say demonstrations need to be taken to our representatives' local offices (or homes, if necessary.) They need to hear it a little more up close and personal than "not" hearing it on the news.
That being said, I'm ready for DC July 4th! Money is always an issue but it is not the priority in this case. I will do what I have to do to make it there but I better not be standing by myself.

Who else is ready to make a stand in DC July 4th no matter the cost? What's your freedom worth?

Did anyone see Nancy Pelosi talk about this movement being astroturf?
Well, I have news for Ms. Pelosi, I helped fund a party and I'm not rich by anyone's standard.

Ms. Pelosi can KISS MY ASTROTURF!

Hi Southern, you do know I was replying to BlueJoni? I want to know what she thinks Fair Pay is? I have worked for corporations and been a business owner so I'm interested to know what she thinks she knows.

You did. You are commenting on a blog about protesting (Tea Parties). If you think we have the right to protest then why comment at all?

WRT charity, I applaud your volunteerism and "giver" can mean many things but doesn't have to mean money. So you want everyone else to give their money so you don't have to? Is that what you are saying? You do realize government has no money except that which they take from all of us via taxes? And you want government to take care of the needy, why? Is it because they are so much more caring and generous than you? Or is it because they can run a charitable program so much more efficiently? If the latter, then I would point to the failures of Social Security or any other gov't program. If it's the previous, then I would ask if you would agree that the government would be better at raising your children then you? If you don't think the government can take care of your kids better than you, then why would you think they can take care of the needy better than you?
