Those who are on 3GS, I Repeat do not try to SHIFT Restore in iTunes with any firmware Less than 3.1.3. Those who are using 3GS with 3.0.1 or 3.1 or 3.1.2 stay patched and dont bother to restore in any CASE! this will brick your iphone and allowing you to update to 3.1.3. Try not to mess with you iDevice..... for time being (for new and beginner Jailbreak And Unlockers)

altecmayank : follow the steps written by Confucious. Update it itunes 9.2 , update your phone firmware to 3.1.2 Download Redsn0w by ALL TIME Dev team :) this will Jailbreak your 2G .. now after Jailbreak you will have Cydia on your phone. just follow iclarified to install Bootneuter from the Repo through Cydia. ( you must have a Wifi Connection ) and just activate BASEBAND UNLOCK .. TADA! y0ou have unlocked 3.1.2 OS in 2G :) i said earlier .. first take your time to understand the whole tutotial on iClarified. even Redmondpie have a good tutorial .. go for that if you dont understand iClarified for MAC. you can try it on Windows. its all your choice. Just feel relax and go for it :)

altecmayank : same here.. its costs 2000 - 3000RS .. they charge money for running blackra1n.. :) this is because lack of education in Sub-continent. the shop keppers they ' ITS A COUNTRY CODE AND it will take days because of some professional work ' hahahahah well to be true we should be more careful in such things .. i will suggest you firstly make sure if you hjave a proxysim chip or unlocked iphone 2G.. then what i say is .. just Update it to iTunes because if you waitred for long you never know a new verison is out which MAY be with updated Baseband which will LOCK YOU PHONE. its the right time to update now!!! its right time because 2G can be unlocked no matter whct FIRMWARE either 3.0 , 3.1 or 3.1.2 redsn0w can do the job.. you have to be careful because after restore you will loose you Songs, apps and data but no worries! you can create a backup in itunes but if you dont then no worries again.. go for new freshly installed apps! JB'ed apps are really FUN to use. its a brotherly adivse.

well 2 years ago i dont think so iphone was officially in INDIA.. so i think you dont have factory unlocked iphone.. the best way is .. download itunes.. connect your iphone .. and simple UPDATE after this process of update about 30mins - 1 hour.. you will have LOCKED IPHONE. well this is just the know how. first of all google the ' Jailbreak and unlocked iphone 2G/3G 3.1.2 ' i think iClarified has some tutorials for newbies ... so find any tutorial which will help you to update to latest version and new baseband. and also with the unlock tools!

first of all check your production month (5th and 6th Digit Of Phone's Serial) if its 40+ then you are most likely to have new botrom wich will make thethered JB for you the way i tried was i JB'ed through Blackra1n :) and then created custom firmware .. connected to itunes and simple SHIFT + UPDATE .. locating my created Firmware. this worked for me. if you are lucky and are under 39 then you are all set. Blackra1n it.. using WIFI install sn0W (included in Blackra1n RC3) and you are all set. now 1) Open Itunes 2) SHIFT + Restore. this will allow you to update through you desired Firmware. 3) locate that custom firmware and relax for 15 min :) no DFU required. this worked for me and i guess the most simple way a bit Long way to go :)
