Big Government : Crony Capitalism Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

Actually, AnnRandy is right....that was exactly what the post was about. In addition, I wanted to highlight the hypocrisy of know nothings like Michael Moore who claim we should like being forced to pay into a system that is set up to lower our standard of care. It is priceless when Bill Maher confirms that those without means would probably be dead because they couldn't have afforded to opt out like Mr Cain.

"how do you propose paying for the big ticket items such as a heart transplant or cancer treatment? " It is called catastrophic coverage. The way insurance started out. It was the insertion of the insurance company into routine care such as office visits and routine lab tests that started the problem. The insertion of the middle man inflated costs for the patient (in premiums, co-insurance and deductibles) while blocking access to care with pre-certifications and denials). It arbitrarily set reimbursement rates to physicians. Now doctors have either opted out by retiring early, limited their scope of practice or restricted their ER coverage. Doctors in private practice are being driven out of business and hospital based practices and large group practices are becoming the norm. In short, patient access to physicians has been decreased. You should educate yourself about the FDA. It has become a revolving door for those who have worked for the pharmaceutical industry insuring that it has a competitive edge. From working to remove competition from the supplement industry to allowing known toxins such as BPA in plastics and round up ready seeds in genetically modified foods to allowing fast tracked vaccines such as Gardesil to stay on the market http://sanevax.org/sane-vax-inc-discovers-potenti... ... problems with the FDA are myriad. The buyer already needs to be aware.

Big Government : The Administration’s Answer To High Healthcare Costs is…. Rationing

The trend has been for private practitioners to either retire, join larger groups, become hospital employees or work part time. The solo private practice is disappearing. http://www.physiciansmoneydigest.com/your-practic...

Big Government : Obamacare Endgame: Doctors Will be Fined or Jailed if they Put Patients First

Dear HLB, I stand by the findings in the study. As a physician I live this everyday. I know several doctors who have left the practice of medicine because they are fed up and see Obamacare as the last straw. I have seen solo practitioners move to mega group practice or become hospital employees because they can't afford to keep their doors open. I have no interest in practicing government run medicine. Once the punitive measures are put in place, you can bet that there will be a stampede of physicians leaving healthcare. The 43% may turn out to be a low estimate. If you want to quibble on the citation of the source - go right ahead, but it is a moot point; and when you start name calling it is just a glaring example that you have already lost your argument.

In my opinion, the point is to end up with a government controlled single payer system.

The decision to not operate on a patient that may not be medically capable of surviving the procedure is NOT rationing, it is the application of the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocratic_Oath

Big Government : Naked Body Scanners: Should You Have To Give Up The Right To Privacy Or Risk Your Health?

There is no question that ionizing radiation can cause cancer. Non-ionizing radiation can also presumably cause cancer by disrupting the DNA. The point is no one has done any long term studies to find out if the terahertz radiation is safe. Just because it is a different mechanism of damage doesn't mean it should be discounted. See the link above and also feel free to read a post I wrote several months ago on the scanners (http://drelainageorge.com/?p=385) Whether it is the backscatter technology or the millimeter wave technology I don't think it is safe, and I have no intention of submitting voluntarily. If you add that to cumulative exposure from flying plus possible medical exposures such as CT or x-ray, it may be the proverbial straw that tips someone into a mutation that can later become cancer.

CL It's a good thing I don't write Blogs to gain your respect. Obviously you are bringing your bias and emotion into this. Perhaps it's because you are an oil man. I am a physician, and a citizen of this great country who cares about my fellow citizens, and I will not apologize for doing my part to educate people. I think it is unconscionable that the government has been silent about potential health risks. The EPA, OSHA and chemical companies have published safety guidelines on exposure to the various chemicals present since the oil spill. Aren't you curious why we haven't heard anything from Sebelius, The Surgeon General or the EPA? What you so flippantly call BS is somebody's reality right now.

The point of the article was to shed some light on an area that has not been discussed by the government or the MSM. We keep seeing people cleaning up oils on the beach without sufficient protection, people handling oil without gloves on walking on oil stained beaches. It is appropriate for people to be given information that they can use to protect themselves if they choose to do so. As an oilman you should know that the exposure to oils and the various chemicals present are toxic. Here are some examples of your "pur dee bullshit". http://www.sciencelab.com/msds.php?msdsId=9926060 http://www.safetydirectory.com/hazardous_substanc... http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/tfacts123.html As a physician I am doing my job to protect the health of people. To be clear, I am not against drilling, but I am against the lies and misinformation we are getting. What contribution are you making?

Big Government : Changing the Healthcare Paradigm: A Physician And Patient Centered Approach

The problem with the hospitals is there is absolutely no cost transparency. They bundle all sorts of charges into Misc. That needs to stop. They also charge by the pill, the kleenex and anything else they can get away with. This really jacks up the price. The surgical charges are even more insane. For example if I do a sinus surgery on average I am paid anywhere from $400-1,100 depending on the complexity of the case. A patient showed me his insurance statement and the hopital was paid 30,000. (for a 90 minute case and the patient went home that same afternoon). I was amazed. One way to contain hospital costs would be to pay them a flat global hospital fee based on the procedure. I work at a surgery center that offers that package to self pay patients and it works pretty well. It can stop the nickel and diming that can occur.
