Big Hollywood : Campaigns Start to Save 'America's Most Wanted'

This show seems kind of pointless in the internet age. All the information you could want about fugitives is available online 24/7.

Big Peace : The Great 2011 Floods

Actually, we do not grow corn for ethanol, per se. We grow excess corn so that we will not experience food shortages if we have a bad year or several (see: Irish potato famine). Think of it this way: If we grow twice as much food as we need, we can lose half of it and still come out OK. The ethanol system was devised to absorb some of this excess corn production in years that we do not need it for food (most yeas). The excess production of corn also contributed to the explosive growth of the corn syrup industry in the last few decades, but that is a whole other topic. Bottom line: America grows corn better than anyone else in the world, so we grow as much as we can and find uses for it afterward.

Big Peace : On Not Spiking the Football

You're delusional if you think a photograph would constitute "proof" of Osama's death or put an end to the skepticism. This argument over photographs is pointless and frankly, I'm disturbed that so many people are begging to see a photo of a bin Laden's blown out head when it would accomplish nothing other than to satisfy your morbid curiosity.

Big Peace : Why Osama Should Have Been Captured, Not Killed

What would you do with a body? How many of us have seen OBL up close? How many of us have a verified sample of his DNA? I know I would not be able to prove or disprove his identity even if I had full access to a corpse. Could you? The bottom line is, I cannot prove (or disprove) that we killed Osama and neither can you, and no photograph or physical evidence would meaningfully change that. All we really have to go on is the integrity of the Navy SEALs and the belief that they would not perpetrate a massive hoax on the American people. That is more than enough for me.

"You’d think the trillions of dollars spent over 10 years would have provided us with some JPGs for our trouble." Pictures would not prove a thing. It's easy enough to find a guy who looks like Osama and shoot him. Skeptics will always be skeptics, no amount proof will ever be enough.

Big Hollywood : Bin Laden Dead: Great Timing, Superman. Don't Let the Door Hit You On the Way Out...

I don't know about that. With 18 months left until the next election and the primaries not even going yet, this is the least politically valuable time for an event like this to occur.

Big Hollywood : Two Hunt For Bin Laden Projects Could Be Fast-tracked

Probably because there is nothing entertaining about the tragic deaths of thousands of Americans in a terrorist attack. And because most of our early operations in Afghanistan were kept fairly secretive, there wasn't much to write about there either. The killing of OBL makes a good subject for a movie because it happened in a relatively short period of time (a few hours or a few months, depending on how much you want to include), in an easily understandable sequence of events, and the good guys won.

Big Peace : George W. Bush Vindicated

A simple, straightforward announcement to the press? How undignified! I was disgusted to see Obama on TV, telling us exactly what happened in a short statement, talking as if he is the commander in chief of our nation's armed forces. Such grandstanding! He should have had the humility to hold a media event on the deck an aircraft carrier in front of a 'mission accomplished' banner! That's what I expect from a president-- not the calm, decisive leadership we saw so brazenly on display yesterday. Bring back Bush!

Big Hollywood : The Civil War According to Hollywood

The same website that yesterday (maybe two days ago) ran an article attacking a comic book where Superman renounces his citizenship, today runs an article defending the confederate cowards who betrayed and fought a war against America. This is mind boggling. I would be furious if I thought there was any kind of consciousness behind the editorial decisions on this website. It seems like these guys (Breitbart? Nolte? Are you still there?) are just making it up as they go along, and rather unsuccessfully. What an embarrassment.

Having a simple animation or zooming in on the logo would not break the DVR effect but would make it palatable for live viewers. I don't think that's too much to ask. Having audio with no motion makes it seem like something is wrong with your television.

If I saw this ad on my tv I would think my cable box was broken- no joke. They need to put in some kind of motion to make it clear that everything is working properly, even just zooming in on the logo would be enough. If I were in charge of a network I would reject this ad based on technical reasons alone. I can't believe the makers of the ad didn't realize you can't have 15 seconds of motionless tv- that's pretty basic stuff.

I seem to recall that the soldiers in Avatar were mercenaries, not actually in the Marine Corps. Also, don't forget that the main character (as well a some of his allies) were soldiers. So it's not as if soldiers were portrayed as villains in Avatar.

I have not seen Restrepo so I can't really comment on it, but how are Black Hawk Down and The Hurt Locker not pro-military? I seem to recall that those films were about brave soldiers working through a tough situation. If anything, I came out of those films with more respect and admiration for our men and women in uniform. Is there an anti-military, anti-American angle I missed?
