Too much power in any one party is never good. It takes away all of our checks and balances.
Not that there are many to begin with since they all receive "campign contributions" from large corporations and/or labor unions in obscenely sums under the guize that they are from the individuals that are on the payroll of said entities.

Just explain one thing to me news_across.

How is it that you claim to be a conservative (AKA right-winger), yet you throw out phrases like this using "right-wing" as though it's some kind of demeaning term?

Frankly anyone who tells me that I am a conservative or that I am a right-winger is right. It's something I'm proud to be and will speak freely about.

You do realize that people like Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Savage, Rusty Humphries, Laura Ingraham, Quinn and Rose all receive death threats daily. Some are serious and do intend not only them, but their families harm as well. So, while you may have been courageous and put your life on the line (something that I do applaud you for sir and have no problem doing my part in paying taxes to make sure that you get well taken care of for the rest of your life) These men and women are risking the lives of their entire family in order to get their word out. That to me sounds like someone who really loves and cares deeply for his or her country as well.

While I have a great deal of respect for your service sir. I do not think that everyone must enlist in a branch of the armed forces in order to serve their country. For christ sakes, someone has to generate wealth that also generates tax revenue that ultimately will be used to fund the armed forces. We are all in it together and some will choose to put their life on the line in service and others will find ways to support those who are brave enough to do so.
As for Glenn's crying.... I can not comment on what is real or not when emmotions are involved. The only person who knows what he is thinking is him. I do however agree with a lot, but not all of his commentary (opinions and facts alike). I will not defend him, nor will I defend you. We are all adults and hopefully we can all find it in our hearts to act as such and move beyond demonizing someone so that we can gain attention for our own selfish reasons that need not be mentioned.

Well well, something I agree with you on news_across. Conservatism is what it is and it does not change based on a pseudo-popular response in socioty. It souns kinda weird, but conservatives, such as myself all too often find themselves trying to defend what our principals and values are because of how much of a fiscal liberal GWB was. For the last 8 years... I hate sentences that start with those words...... we have spent ourselves into a debt that can never be repaid. Now we find ourselves with someone who has bashed GWB for spending so much money, but has proposed a budget that absolutely cannot sustain it's self. That is why we all need to speak up, blog, protest, write our congressmen and women and vote in 2010 for a real change. Someone who is truley conservative, not someone who is a "compassionate conservative" who seeks to buy votes with "community projects" that do nothing to actually grow a capitalistic economy, only hurt it.

I don't think that demoralizing and demeaning comments about not only the people of this site, which, by the way, includes the person posting will help anyone move forward. Keep reading Marx and then come back. Your divide and conquer tactics will not work here. I want real input, not hateful output. Hate-talk such as that only destroys your own credibility with the audience that you are trying to reach.

6. Create another ammendment to prohibit fee's and taxes on all goods and services other than a sales tax.
7. Create another ammendment that forces a balanced budget each year (exceptions only for wartime and not to exceed the cost of the war that must be repaid)
8. Campaign finance reform (public funding only)
9. Freeze all stocks held by government officials and their immediate family members during their time in office.
10. Earmark reform. I understand why they exhist so I will still allow them, but in a different form, on their own bills where they will be voted on by their merit, not by the merits of the primary bill to which they are attached.
11. Term limits for all elected officials. 2 terms and you're out with no continuation of salary or carried over benefits once the office has been vacated. Run for a different office if you must, but limit your time in one place.
12. Allow drilling for oil and natural gas on purchased property (this means that you cannot deny the right to purchase said property based on the individual or corporation's desire to drill on it)

My 12 step program to fix this nation.
1. Create a constitutional ammendment that would free our markets to failure and turn over all government interest in the ones that they have invested in.
2. If the fed really must have some say in our education system (and I don't agree with it at all), limit it to reading, writing, arithmatic, and "proven science" -- you know, the stuff that is based on scientific fact, not scientific concensus
3.Pay for elected officials at all levels must be the average income of their district (for federal officials based on US averages)
4. No petty cash funds for elected officials. We the people cant afford to have petty cash.
5. FAIR TAX - no death tax, capital gains, income tax etc etc

As a person a with conservative belief system I cannot say that I would like to overthrow our government because to me it would also mean overthrowing myself as an individual. After all, that is what our government is. We are all individuals that determine that fate of this nation. I do however have a strong resentment for where both our previous two presidents and our current persident are leading us. When elected officials become so powerful that they are not only protecting us from foreign and domestic threats, but also protecting us from ourselves then a line has been crossed and it needs to be restored.

It was att hat time I made a commitment to myself and my family. I stand by it to this day. When I was able to return to work my only thought was "how am I going to avoid getting my family into this situation ever again. I worked hard and made a lot of sacrafices. There were a lot of things I wanted for us, but refused to buy. I started gardening and canning food. Only buying what I couldn't grow or hunt that were necessary for life. I bought used vehicles instead of new ones when one became too worn to repair. My family is now completley debt free and we have not even had a credit card for the last 15 years.
