Great tip. After purchasing my textbooks last Spring, they are the only recommendations I ever get anymore. I'm definitely going to follow this and fix that.

"Failed to copy" was probably the incorrect phrase. I "overlooked" copying svchost and the computer continued to have problems.

When I originally applied this fix to a computer, I had used Method 2 but failed to copy svchost back.

I applied the fix with Method 1 and it resolved my svchost problem.

Overall it looks good except for the vertical blue line, the 3-D security ribbon. It really messes with the look.

Update: Facebook Fixer is now known as FFixer.

You will need to uninstall Facebook Fixer before installing FFixer.

Jim,

Great tip! It's often easy to forget that not all 64-bit applications work as easily as 32-bit, and thus you need to install the 32-bit version.

Each one of the four routers were on their own line. I also had different channels set for each one.

Patrick,

I'm assuming that you have the Windows XP computer connected to the Linux box via the wired (eth0) connection. If this is correct, and you have configured the Linux box as shown in the article, then you should receive a 10.x.x.x IP address on the Windows XP computer.

As for configuration of the wireless (wlan0) settings, they could either be set to a static IP or DHCP, with the latter probably being how you would have it set.

I have not used the software, but have heard of it.

I will look into it further.
