When intolerance has become so institutionalized that allegedly serious journalists feel emboldened to marginalize and dismiss dissenting opinions by using vulgar sexual innuendo it has gone well beyond the realm of hateful hyperbole perpetuated by a few. When someone has been forced to resign from their job because they made a contribution to support a ballot measure, when a group of lawful protesters are demonized as racists, when a beauty pageant contestant (seriously, a beauty queen?) is vilified for politely expressing a contrary opinion there is a fundamental rot in the system that perpetuates it.

I would like to think that you didn't mean to diminish the very real re-evaluation of my belief system by implying I would scrap it based on a "bad joke". However, that sort of demeaning assessment is part and parcel of the liberal tool box and I shouldn't be surprised. As I said, the hate filled remarks of three individuals are one thing but the staggering silence of feminist organizations and liberal politicians was revealing. Preaching tolerance and acceptance while practicing wholesale intolerance of any differing opinion is intellectually dishonest. An ideology so steeped in hypocrisy and it's own hubris that it cannot tolerate a dissenting opinion and zealously seeks to marginalize and silence all opposition is an ugly and dangerous one.

As an example, the vile, hateful imagery of rape directed at Sarah Palin by self-identified liberals. Sad to say, I can point to three incidents without even having to break a sweat: Sandra Bernhard, Margaret Cho, Michael Sietzman. That three hate filled individuals would make these remarks is one thing. But the epic failure of any feminist organization to object was dumbfounding.. If rape isn't a feminist issue, what the hell is? Had I not been convinced before that the liberal ideology was a sham, this example alone would have done it.
