Wow Liz !!! I am really disappointed by this waste of a story. I guess the main reason I'm disappointed is because normally Liz is a great reporter. Most of the computers in our schools are second hand ones that are slower than our grandmas. Maybe a story on how schools lack updated tech equipment. Yes some schools especially those in bigger districts can afford new equipment but a lot of schools can only afford to buy refurbished computers which are worth losing. How about some positive stories these days. We are getting tired of all the negative stuff. It's like watching the National Enquirer on TV. KOMO is better than that.
I'm glad teachers are sticking to their goals. As a former IT Consultant working in downtown Bellevue and Redmond I made almost a 6 figure salary. I decided to follow my dream of becoming a teacher. A job I really love although I now get paid $60,000 less than before and my work load is quite a bit higher and I am responsible for teaching the community's children. Until you walk a day in the life of a teacher you really don't understand the hardship of supporting a family on their income. Yes they can choose a different career but then who will teach the future. I moved to Eastern Washington to be able to live on a teacher's income. I have no idea how they can survive in Bellevue. All I can add is that I am AMAZED at the quality, kindness, dedication, and integrity of the teachers I have and do work with. Your kids are EXTREMELY lucky to be living in Washington.
Cedar Grove had the same issue in Maple Valley where they started and also in Covington. You would think they might have found a way to alleviate the smell instead of moving the problem around the Seattle area.
There was actually a class action lawsuit in Maple Valley where landowners near Cedar Grove won judgment against Cedar Grove for the smells eminating from their property.
Maybe they should move it to an unpopulated area.
I'm in Idaho but I know many people who have attended TaHoMa schools along with myself. I have also been taught by Mike and Rob and found them to be of a higher standard than most school administrators. The teachers and staff in the TaHoMa schools are among the best in the state if not the country. I'm sure your son is not getting the best education he could have gotten.
Great points Sunrise !!! Its nice to read something from someone who is thinking clearly and not emotionally.
You make it sound like this was something that he took months working on. Have you seen the movies and other crap out there. He could have written this in one night. I think the parents should have been advised and a meeting setup between a counceler and all involved and listed so the real problem(s) could be discovered, discussed, and resolved so it doesn't happen again.
Maybe it got stuck in your junk filter. There are other reasons than they just didn't send it.
I'm sure your student is the perfect one and has never picked on another kid. There are always 2 sides to a story. This kid's buttons got pressed by something done to him or something that was said. Most likely over time. Parents are too quick to jump to the defense of their kids and say hey my kid would never pick on someone or cause trouble.
