KVAL - Eugene, OR : Crews search for missing mushroom hunter | Community Spirit | Oakridge News

What is scary is these mushroom hunters go out during riffle hunting season. I hear too many stories about hunters coming across people mushroom picking and they are wearing brown and greens rumaging in the brush areas. Everyone that goes out in the woods, even for a day trip, should be prepared. And if you are going to go out during hunting season, wear bright orange. Common sense...either you're born with it or you're not. But I do hope they find the lost person.

Kinda funny how many people promote legalizing marijuana, (smokers, non-smokers, medical, non-medical) but OMG a college kid in oregon smokes pot..... and hello he did not get cited with it. The kid in the back that admitted to it didn't even get cited with it. Everyone seems to forget that these guys are 18-25. I remember when I was 18-25....good times! These kids are generally good kids, we only see the crap the new posts only because they play football. Yes they are making very stupid choices doin 118, driving suspended, yada yada. But I think almost every kid I have ever known has been busted for speeding, and stupidly. Many have drank as a minor, few busted with mip. And fighting. These are young, testosterone, football playing, rowdy, and generally good kids. They could be the kids methed out, stealing your metal, knocking your daughter up and then knocking her out, not even in school.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Farms face big fines after Feds find kids picking berries | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports -

Of course my kids do work around the house. Our littlest at 5 has her own age appropriate chores. I absolutely believe in working as a team to maintain our house we all use together. But as our kids start to grow into young adults they need to have outside work experience in order to be better adults. The way laws and society is going our kids will not be able to do any prep type things and thrown into the world. Plus doing chores for your parents isn't the same as having a job. Jobs have responsiblities, life lessons, working with a variety of people, customer service, etc. that you don't get pulling weeds and unloading the dishwasher lol

Our now 15 yr old son has been wanting a job since 13. When he said he could not find a job, I called bs and looked for him. I found out after 2 wks job searching that the "workers permit" does not exist anymore. Kids can no longer have a paper route, pick berries, or mow lawns anymore. You can't even get a job washing dishes. Now he's about to turn 16 and the simple Mcdonalds or things like that you used to be able to get jobs are not easily available because there are grown ups with families that lost their jobs and now working the jobs teens used to have. It's very sad because I'm affraid he will loose his drive to work. Schools loosing money arn't educating kids properly and now they don't have to work. Scary future!

KVAL - Eugene, OR : One dead after log truck, bike collide on Hwy 101 | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugene,

I agree. I'm all for people gettin out there riding their bikes for pleasure, for training, or commuting. But a lot of riders to travel very narrow roads with a lot of traffic like hwy 126, 101, Lorane Hwy etc. Even in a regular passenger vehicle it is scary because there simply isn't enough room for you, the on-coming vehicle and the rider. It's just plain dangerous for all on the road. Laws of physics proves time and time again that the rider, causing a dangerous situation, is most often in a loosing battle whether it be serious injury or death. No one wants to hit a rider. Even if the rider was in the wrong, I personally would still have emotional issues with hitting someone. Riders need to understand that they can cause accidents and be the one who pays dearly. Best regards to the family dealing with the loss of a loved one and the driver involved.

Unfortunate that their house was charred... but kinda stupid is stupid does right? I mean even my kids know not to put the bbq too close to the house. And you don't leave a fire unattended. I don't think I know one person that hasn't had a grease fire in the BBQ at least once.
I may be wrong, but isn't that what he is saying? Death row is a money waster? He oddly saved us a few tax dollars killing a killer. I know that sounds odd to say...but thank you...?.... lol He's also bringing attention to the fact we have these baby killers and rapist on death row wasting thousands of tax dollars. We already know that. I have seen, and been part of, many comments on how we should put a bullet in their head once we have the confirmed absolute conviction of these monsters. Technology with DNA testing has improved greatly over the last 10-20 years. Also, obviously there are many cut and dry cases where there is no question of a wrongful conviction. Granted he is a murderer, but his point is right on in my opinion. The economy is in the toilet and we are wasting tax money supporting these monsters meanwhile our education fund gets less and less. We're shutting down schools and building prisons. I'm glad he's saying enough is enough, take me out already and do something about the rest on death row.

It takes two convictions to get 30 days in jail? hahaha And like skingo said they get to buy their way out each time. That is a slap on the wrist. And what happens when they don't pay? Do they just go to collections lmao since pimping isn't legal here like in Vegas where they can garnish your wages. What a joke.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Death penalty: Oregon weighs changes to law | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugene, OR -

Ok so let me make sure I am understanding this right.... We currently have the dealth penelty, but we do not use it. Now lawmakers want to make it harder and more costly to get the punishment of the the death penalty, but we still won't actually do it. And we are still going to pay the full benefits of being in prison (food, shelter, health and dental, power, cable, etc)? Wow. And they say crime doesn't pay. So these creeps get to molest, rape, toture and kill anyone they want and in turn they get 3 squares and free room and board for the rest of their life on everyone elses dime? What the bleep is going on? It isn't like these things aren't costing us enough money but now the state wants to have it cost more money out of our pockets to procecute these people. I've said it before, the state has no problem putting down a dog that bites or has killed live stock but a human kills, rapes, totures other humans....well shoot lets take care of you. BS!!! What is wrong with this picture.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Ad tries to open conversation about same-sex marriage | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eug

It's kind of funny how a lot people find threesoms, chick on chick and the like hot. Huge market and what seems to be every guys wet dream. But if those two people have a connection and fall in love and want to be together, all of a sudden it's wrong. Got to love hypocracy and double standards. There is a huge percentage (just words not actual facts/statistics) of male/female relationships/marriages that should never be allowed to happen. Do we regulate and catagorize them and tell them they cannot marry? Heck no. What is the difference, really, if they are married or not. Honestly, it's just a piece of paper. Great meaning, sure. I am married. Let them prove their love with that piece of paper and collect the marriage licence fee and get over yourselves. Love is love. Live your own life and let love be.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Parent outraged by school bus stop near sex offender\'s house | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Spor

I used to live in WA, and I think this applies here too. You can get on a mailing list that everytime an offender is released in your community you get a poster style letter that shows the picture of the offender and a description of the charges/offense. The schools should be on those mailing lists, but I cannot say they are. As parents, or just concerned people in the community, we can all be on those lists. It is public information. Unfortunatly, even if the bus stop is a block away there is still a concern. Parents do have a responciblity to protect their child too. Maybe the parents of all of the children could rotate who stands at the bus stop. Or as mentioned above, drive your kids to school. And there are latchkey programs in the mornings at some schools. We cannot control those monsters, but we do have control on ways to protect our children as best we can like standing at the bus stop. Too bad we cannot put them in a gated community away from general public....like prison...forever.

It's crazy. We only had two official snow days, althought the so called snow was melted off by 10am both times. If people are too scared to drive on those days, then they shouldn't be out driving. Its ridiculus to have studded tires on the roads for all these rainy days tearing up the roads. What a waste of money on idiots.....again. I bet those are the same people that complain about how there is no money for this or that in the state.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Final public hearing on 4J cuts draws cheers, tears | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugen

We definately need to rework the budget and quit wasting money. Not just 4J. This is just the beginning. I have four kids in school. The classrooms are already over crowded. The teachers can't give the kids the individual time they need to make sure they are actually gettting it. They end up just getting pushed through. Quality of education is down. More taxes on something that these school boards are just going to waste isn't going to help either. Home school is a difficult option for families where the adults have to work full time to scrape by. There has to be another solution.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Final public hearing on 4J cuts draws cheers, tears | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugen

Having it be the governments job to educate our children doesn't have the greatest ring to it. But like most of us in the real world, if we don't work we don't have money. If we don't have money we can't buy food and rent and electricity yada yada. We do not have a wealthy family full of money to support us. When you work an 8-10 hr day it is hard to come home and give your child(ren) 3-4 hrs of education. Also, just because I went through school doesn't make me qualified to teach my kids the essentials they need to go to college or join the work force. This isn't the Laura Ingels days where you could get by without reading and math book knowledge. I need someone to help teach my kids, just like most of us. Now I could quit my job, go on welfare, get free medical, foodstamps and money to sit on my lazy arse and play on the cpu to teach my kids. But I would rather work than depend on the government to support my family. I don't see what the bad idea of schools are if they system would fund them as needed and not waste the money. It's a big catch 22.
