KOMO - Seattle, WA : Skeptical strikers scrutinize Boeing offer | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Boeing

The only ones I find that are weak are the ones who can't think for themselves and follow all of the propaganda put out by the union leadership before this latest contract came out. You really think that you are tough just because you are willing to put your family through more harsh times? Good for you. I'm glad not everyone out there is as tough and strong as you are ... then we'd definitely have nothing.

That's right vote NO until you have absolutely no leg to stand on and no union to back you up ... GOOD LUCK with all that!

You don't honestly expect Boeing to say we will NEVER outsource do you? You won't be going back to work for a LONG time if that is what you expect from the union and Boeing. This is completely unrealistic. A lovely thought and a great concept to go on ... BUT it's not going to happen as long as other places are willing to do the work for cheaper!

Do you know how hard it is to find products not made in China? I would bet that if you looked at the tags on half your clothes and all you'd realize you weren't supporting your fellow union members much either!!!

So basically you are saying that Boeing is gone! So why even bother? What good does it do for you to be out for 50+ days then? I think you need to look carefully at what you just said and ask yourself who really is the Fearmonger?

Boeing is a global corporation ... outsourcing is the nature of the game in big business! Boeing may not leave Washington any time soon, but the more ungrateful and pathetic the IAM acts the better the chances are that the union is going to disappear! IF you are willing to risk your union representation then keep bitching and moaning! The top priority for you guys should be to get rid of your current union heads ... they aren't doing anything positive for you or for the union. Be glad you have a union to work with, but if you keep striking for minor issues and ask for EVERYTHING under the sun and refuse to understand that negotiation implies giving and taking not just taking ... then you are going to lose the one great thing about your job and you are going to lose all of the benefits you have gotten via the union!

Not to mention as a private company not a public entity they are completely within their rights to set whatever rules they wish. For instance a private hospital will issue the no smoking rules, however a VA hospital can only comply with government regulations (as they are a government entity not a private one).

Your time ended after the 48 hour failed negotiations. Boeing is proving over and over that they are not willing to budge and you are working hard at making your union nonexistent. You lost your bargaining chip the second the union negotiators walked out on Boeing, refused to talk about anything but job security, and the workers went on strike. Sorry to inform you BUT Boeing can last being out a lot longer than the union can!

I agree. This was an issue we were faced with in my household. People really need to look at the entire situation before they start griping about SCABs. This is the third time the union has tried negotiated with Boeing ... aren't people tired of this yet? Bonuses and COLA are not going to make up for the time and pay lost during the strike. I'm glad that some people have their VIPs and savings to go off of, BUT not everyone is as lucky as those rare few who can afford to stay out over minor issues. Good luck with your husband returning to work. I don't think people are going to be as aggressive as you fear and if they are ... TOO BAD!! You have to take care of your family first. Solidarity is great when the union and union members are working for you and not against you.

I agree. The major negotiating power of the union was lost in the 48 hours. The union has completely boggled what the true issues of the strike were! First it was all about Job Security ... now I'm hearing bitching about the pay blah blah blah! IF that was the true issue in the beginning and if that was what people wanted to be fixed then they should have spoke up when the union was all gung ho about job security issues and were refusing to discuss anything else. What do you expect from BOEING and what the hell are you strikers wanting ... the moon????? Aren't you tired of being out yet?

So you are telling me that I am absolutely wrong in asking my husband to go back to work because of our economic situation. Before the strike he had a major health issue and was out of work on disability for a few months and at the same time I was laid off from my job. We were unable to keep a stable income or save for the event of the strike. When I finally returned to work it was at a low paying position and I had to start all over again. I DO NOT EVER TELL MY HUSBAND WHAT TO DO (and the same goes for him). BUT when medical bills and house payments start adding up a $150 strike check does nothing for you. Are we supposed to go on welfare simply over an issue of pride? Take all situations in hand before you judge others!!!!!
