Could one of those economists PLEASE explain to me how the recession will end in Sept., yet Timmy G. is asking for a raise in the debt ceiling and, in July alone, the deficit grew by 180 billion dollars? I'm not being facetious, I would just like an answer. Am I missing something? Keep in mind that I've been an accountant for 30+ years, 14 for a municipality (with a balanced budget) so I don't consider myself an illiterate when it comes to finances. I'll check back soon for an answer. Thanks!

My rep, Bill Foster (D) was one of the few dems with the guts to vote against the bill. I emailed him both b/4 and after the vote. After was a thank you for supporting his constituents and a suggestion that he consider leaving the Dems and becoming Independant. There are a whole lot of people who will never vote for a Democrat again, myself included (although I haven't voted for a dem pres candidate since Kennedy.) Those of you who are in districts with dems who voted against C&T might want to pass the suggestion on to their reps.If even half of them changed their party affiliation to save their careers, we will have accomplished a lot.
Ever heard of Bill Clinton or John Edwards?
Hasn't this guy been crucified long enough? Sure, he made a mistake and let people down but the media and bloggers have gone way over the top with this guy. Where were they when Bill Clinton and John Edwards were doing the same thing? Rush was the only one to make a worthwhile comment about the situation, which was to say that, perhaps, Gov. Sanford lost his "spirit," his ability to deal with all this stimulas crap and having no control over his own state's affairs. I'm not condoning what Sanford did, or the way he did it, and maybe he should resign, but enough is enough.

This is great info. Just what I was looking for. I read a blog yesterday that a guy was going to tape ABC's healthcare infomercial, just so he could get a list of all the sponsors, then BOYCOTT them. Everyone needs to review sponsor lists for the major networks, as well as CNN, CNBC, etc. (per your link) and stop buying these products. Hit them where it hurts and they might wake up!! We can do this, if enough people spread the word and get serious about boycotts! So far, all I have to give up is cat food products. And come on Glenn, Purina's on the list!!!
BHO is such a woos! Did he forget that Hawaii is part of the USA? I can't believe he hasn't made a firm statement about this situation. Oh--on second thought, I do believe it. Thank God for the military! At least they're on top of the situation.
This could be a good thing! I'll tell you why. I live in Illinois, another state that will probably end up in bankruptcy, one of these days. ( As you probably know, IL is OB's stomping ground.) There's NO WAY Illinois will ever pass a bill like Ohio's HB 159, 'cause Illinois is broke, can't afford to pay bills for Medicaid recipiants, the elderly, and uninsured children (all existing IL programs) as it is. (nursing homes wait 6-9 months for Medicaid payments, the governor wants to cut aid to the elderly and to children.) And, there's lots of other states in the same boat. I'm kinda wondering why Ohio's legislature is dumb enough to think they can pull this off!
