A good description of how to use it is here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/TheoraCookbook/HTML5 Other parts of that cookbook also explain the advantages.

if you want to try out full screen support with the videos, try this firefox extension.

This looks to be a bug in Firefogg. I've raised it with the Firefogg maintainers.

TinyVid : TinyVid Upload Video File

File uploads now transcode after uploading if it is not an Ogg file. This means you can upload most forms of video files and let tinyvid deal with the conversion to Ogg. I'm still tweaking the error handling and things - let me know if there are any problems.

No, it must be an Ogg container. This can contain any stream type but only Vorbis and Theora are likely to be played by the browsers.

TinyVid : Feedback on TinyVid

I'm not keen on screen scraping things like descriptions from other sites. I'd prefer people click on the link and go to YouTube, or the other site, to read the description. The ability to transcode the video from other sites is useful so those without Flash (or those who choose not to use it) can watch the videos. Reading the description moves more towards leeching off the other site vs providing a service on top of it.

TinyVid : Coraline Trailer

The idea behind the video element is that there is a single codec that works across all browsrs. This is what we are working towards. At the moment Ogg works on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari (with a plugin). That's four out of five of the browsers - the fifth not even supporting video yet (IE). The most widespread coverage that uses the video element is now Ogg. Firefox is unable to use mp4 due to patent licensing restrictions so it's a non-starter.

TinyVid : Feedback on TinyVid

I used to have this functionality but i took it down. It was too open to abuse. It enabled tinyvid to be used to send network requests to any site, requesting any resource. I had to have code to detect infinite streams, non-video files, etc. I'm not sure I'll be bringing it back.

I mean cross browser in that it will work on most browsers. The combined market share of all the browsers it works on, or will work on in the near future, probably exceeds that of IE. And who knows, IE may surprise us.

I dislike the way it refreshes the page after leaving a comment.

I'm not sold in js-kit either. I've had moments where I logged in via openid, left a comment, refreshed the page and the comments disappeared. I needed to delete my jskit user cookie to get it back. Odd.

I'm testing the js-kit comment engine as an alternative to intense debate. Some videos will have this alternative engine appearing. To try out out, leave comments here: http://tinyvid.tv/show/1odneot3p3d2a
