Mob Rule Once Again?

Bank of America forced to push through with the Merrill Lynch acquisition? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti...

The government once again had their hands in this pot. The whole TARP execution is yet another demonstration of the panic mode of the administration. So, my question is what is AG Cuomo going to do with this information? Or, is Bernanke and Paulson going to go scot free?

It would be interesting how the public and media will handle the bonuses being slated for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae? Mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac plan to pay more than $210 million in bonuses through next year to give workers the incentive to stay in their jobs at the government-controlled companies.

Will HR 1664 - Pay for Performance Act come into play? Will the Treasury Secretary deem these excessive?

God help us. With the 2010 Budget on the floor, the Dems are now "threatening" to invoke the reconciliation process. Battle Brewing Over Reconciliation, Which Is Anything but That http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/us/politics/28w...

This is a Senate rule that has been used in the past and now is hovering over the budget approval. Republicans are obviously against it because it will allow the budget to be approved without the freedom of a Republican filibuster. Critics are throwing back the argument that the Republicans too have used this rule to push their budget proposals.

Instead of all the nonsense buckering, who is going to stand up for what is right for the American people?

The President Is 'Keeping Score' Chicago politics has moved into the White House. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB12386283415378042...

Whatever happened to "It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion?" I do not always agree with the politicians in place but I would like to think that they too should have the right to speak up. America is good but we have thugs in place to undermine us.

Another Obama broken campaign promise? "PROMISES, PROMISES: Obama tax pledge up in smoke " http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D979POSG0...
Obama promised no tax increases. In another show of their lack of honesty, they have raised the cigarette taxes to support the insurance for children. When will those who praise the administration for the feel good act of supporting health insurance for children also find they bought into a tax increase? I am afraid that people are being fed so many supposedly "positive changes" that they are not aware of the stealth restrictions slipping by them.

I wonder when people will realize that Obama is giving the country away - his appointments have blatant disregard of the constitution (the latest being Koh with his promotion of International law and move to disregard our constitution), his push for a global economy, undermining our prestige (Clinton stating the problems in Mexico are the US fault because of our drug use or the state of the world economy is because of the US).

Even the gifts he gives (the Brown DVDs, the Queen's IPod) show the disregard of the reputation of the US.

News Article: BEYOND AIG: A BILL TO LET BIG GOVERNMENT SET YOUR SALARY(http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Beyond...

Yet another measure that increases governmental control in the free market. "The new legislation, the "Pay for Performance Act of 2009," would impose government controls on the pay of all employees -- not just top executives -- of companies that have received a capital investment from the U.S. government. The purpose of the legislation is to "prohibit unreasonable and excessive compensation and compensation not based on performance standards," according to the bill's language. That includes regular pay, bonuses -- everything -- paid to employees of companies in whom the government has a capital stake."

My questions to all: (1) Would it then be an accurate conclusion that this would include any and all the companies that will be bolstered up by the approved Stimulus Bill? Can we appropriately interpret any stimulus funds as capital investment? (2) Can this be applied to those who employ union workers?

No elected official can propose or introduce a bill, plan or other issue without an outline of some sort. We cannot continue to accept their word that the details will follow. These details must be presented to the American people with ample time and opportunity to comment. No More stealth propositions!

Elected officials
One term
While in office, have the elected officials spend time in the real world (small businesses, courts, hospitals).
HAVE THE ELECTED OFFICIALS STAND IN LINE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE
oEliminate perks or at least have them similar to the benefits of the working America
oNo life time benefits
Pre-certified to know the following: Constitution, US History
Have annual performance appraisal to review especially how they adhere to the constitution. The following should be part of the appraisal
oVoting record – all bills voted for actually support the constitution
oBills with lobbyist involvement
oAny raises should be merit based (certainly no automatic raises)
oHave surveys completed by their constituents to rate the performance of their elected official
