They don't work throughout the night. Roads are terrible in the middle of the night. Plow them so that when people start driving on them they are clear and clean. I'd pay more taxes if at least I would see a plow come down my street with storms over 6 inches. How about you call the private contractors (to plow my street) in Longmont as per your rules below! ---- • Level three deployment is considered for snow accumulations of six to fifteen inches regardless of single or multiple storm predictions. • Entire snow team is called for duty. Back to back shifts of twelve hours on and twelve hours off are used to provide continuous snow route coverage. • Fleet mechanics will be called in for duty to immediately address equipment problems. • City staff providing back-up to snow and ice operations may be used. • Private contractors may be contacted to assist City crews. • School zones are cleared curb to curb. • Plowing priority will be given to the continuation of critical City services including Trash, Water, Electric, etc., along with emergency response needs. We have had 30 years of this and now it is coming to fruit. You will always have people cheating the system just like when you open a clothing store there will always be shoplifters. Police the system but people will always find ways to take advantage. It's just the way to do business.Shutting down the social safety net will make this country feel like it was in the 70's. It was not a fun place to live in a city. This is just insurance for those less fortunate. That's right, you pay taxes wether you use the system or not. It's a volunteer use. You don't like it, don't use the government insurance. Just like you don't do small claim on your home insurance for fear of premiums going up. Guess what, they do go up just like your taxes but the safety net is still there for you or for those hit by a hurricane miles away.
