Its good to have locals show you around; you're getting the backdoor tour! And the best advice about keeping up with your writing: Make a list after each day about general things you did with minor details. Or even as its happening, write it down as you're about to do it. Your picture memory will trigger when you wrote at that moment so when you look back, the details will just flow :) Have fun!
