I am 100% in favor of making this industry operate in a way that makes our air, ground, and water safe. These studies could help get us there. But, the Boulder Atmospheric Observatory is located on one of the highest points in Erie. The air passing this station comes from great distances, not just from Erie. Erie can pass all the regulations they want, but the impact from their 300 wells, vs the impact from the tens of thousands of other wells in the Wattenberg field will overpower Erie's efforts. The regulations need to come from the state, or federal, level. Otherwise, each town will have different regs that the operators will have to follow. Regs will drive up the cost of this product to the consumer, and I for one am willing to pay more for the safety aspect, but the cost will go even higher if there isn't consistent regulations.
