I finally sold a home about a year agon on a short sale, and every time we contacted WF, they needed "more documentation" even if they already had copies of what they were requesting. It just took so long for them to respond to anything, that timely documents kept expiring. They dithered so long that it took 14 months to sell the place. Four (count 'em, FOUR) prospective byuyers with bona fide full appraised price offers walked away when WF didn't get back to them in 6 weeks. I am not making this up. Because the market was still going down, the appraised price kept dropping. They finally settled for $60K less than the initial offer. Sheesh! Labs can have inconclusive results, but the lab tech doesn't want to show that maybe he isn't the best and brightest, so he (or, with a nod to the ladies, she) states a result when there wasn't one. And people have been known to just plain fabricate evidence.
