Most of the money for the station that was announced Wednesday, however, had been secured last year under the Bush administration, according to fire department officials.
State Sen. David Rouzer, a Republican who represents Pikeville and worked in the Agriculture Department under President Bush, said he helped secure the fire department money last year out of the federal agency's regular programs.
"They're coming in and cherry picking the best projects and switching out the money, saying it's stimulus money," Rouzer said. "But it was already approved and in the pipeline. It's totally disingenuous to come down here and say this is stimulus money, when regardless of whether a stimulus bill passed, they were getting the money."

Senate Will Delay Action on Punitive Tax on Bonuses Jarred by a cool reception from the White House and fears of unintended consequences across the financial world, Senate leaders are likely to delay until late next month legislation to punitively tax bonuses at banks and investment firms that receive federal aid. Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) announced last week that the Senate would move ahead with the legislation as soon as possible, and he attempted to bring the bill to the floor Thursday night. But he revised that timetable yesterday, saying that the chamber will spend this week debating a national-service bill before turning to a long-scheduled showdown over the budget for fiscal 2010. Did anybody chat this one? Last week I reached out to the president, asking for a federal waiver from restrictions on stimulus money. I got a most unusual response. Before I even received an acknowledgment of the request from the White House, I got word that the Democratic National Committee was launching campaign-style TV attack-ads against me for making it. Is this the new brand of politics we were promised? Instead of engaging with me and other governors on the merits of our dissent, I am to be attacked in television ads? In the end, I just don't believe a problem created by too much debt will be solved by piling on more debt. This doesn't strike me as an unreasonable or extremist position. IMHO this whole thing has been a set up by the teleprompter so that BO can come out on the right side of the moral arguement, by vetoing this ……(I just don’t have the words, or the spelling ability) bill. I think the teleprompter is playing the ‘I Won’ card again but this time on its own team. Everbody who has just read the Constitution (http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html) knows that this bill doesn’t cut the mastard. And I think thats where the teleprompter is taking us.

This is just unreal: From the Telegraph: A London employment tribunal has ruled that Tim Nicholson, right, was wrongly dismissed as a property firm’s “head of sustainability because of his fervent commitment to “climate change.” Mr Nicholson had fallen out with his colleagues over his attempts to reduce the company’s “carbon footprint.” The tribunal chairman David Neath found the company guilty of discriminating against Mr Nicholson under the 2006 Equality (Religion and Belief) Regulations, because his faith in global warming was a “philosophical belief.” Recalling how “eco-psychologists” at the University of the West of England are pressing for “climate denial” to be classified as a form of “mental disorder,” one doubts whether the same legal protection would be given to those who fail to share Mr Nicholson’s “philosophical belief.” Dumbfounded at how out of control this AGW has become.
