When my dad was in the nursing home we labeled everything and just like with your mom, it all disappeared. So we started bringing his laundry home. It was a PITA but the loss was significantly lessened as a result.

My cousin died this way. To the best of our knowledge, he had the DTs, and had a seizure. He fell while having the seizure, hitting his head on the edge of the kitchen counter. His kids found him on the floor. On Fathers Day.
