Just a few observations. First we need to get past the finger pointing, Rep/Dem, and realize it is the system that is at fault. Second, and I don't live in CA, if you think it's funny what is happening in CA, what ever state you live in is most likely pretty close to being in the same situation and that's just reality. Now to the article, I did some quick looking on the net and found a USA Today article 11/10/09 that said UC Berkley football coach Jeff Tedford will make $2 million or more this season, slightly more than double the number two years ago. That is just for one sport at the one UC campus. How many other coaches are in the states university system? I also found the average professor salary in CA to be somewhere in the low to mid $100,000's. The difference that I see is one generates revenue for the school, and the other just works for the school. As an ex-collegiate athlete I think I can say we as a society have a problem with where we put our emphasis, is it on athletics or academics? After all that what I am saying is there is room to trim fat, give the students a quality education.
