I would just like to say Thank you to MuscleNerd & The Dev-Team for all the hard work you guys have done. My Recent Story... hehe :) ==================== I won a iPhone 3G 16GB from eBay for 40 dollars the other day it was just delivered and it was stuck on Apple logo the owner did not know how to get it restored so he put it up for sale/ so when I got it I did a factory restore from iTunes and it was of course updated to iOS 4.2.1 with the unlockable baseband 05.14.04 so I upgraded to the iPad baseband then down graded with the new redsn0w and now i'm on iOS 4.2.1 with baseband 05.13.04 after that I did nothing and waited for the phone to activate with off carrier SIM and presto. Downgraded with the new (redsn0w) and Unlocked with (Ultrasn0w) which was installed for the iPad baseband. You guys are the BEST!!! Thanks again!!

Hi Everyone, Have a question on upgrading my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.2.1. Question is can i preserve the BB and upgrade to iOS 4.2.1 or not possible ? I tried to select the iOS IPSW but none of the redsn0ws support making a custom IPSW for 3G only 3GS and above. Right now I am on iOS 3.1.3 (7E18) Firmware Version: 05.12.01 Unlocked with Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 I dont want to lose my unlock so I wouild like to keep my BB. Also i'm guessing that iPhone 3G cannot be upgraded to 5.1.1 is this correct ? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. :)

Just cause you cannot see it doesn't mean its 100% gone from the device, the device is like a Hard Disk Drive / Memory card. even though you delete it does not mean the information is gone. The device would have to have the complete memory system reused / written over in order for the data to actually be gone and when you upgrade the actually part that's being over written is alloted already for iOS System on the iOS devices. Meaning the rest is only wiped like a format. So until that space has been reused there is a good chance of recovery with the right software and if you know what you are doing. Edit: All depends on how bad you want what might still be there and how important that information is to you be it pics, video, movies, specific data files etc.... Just saying.. :D

I guess it is in how well you take care of the SIM and if it is pulled in and out of the cell phone over and over or not but for me I have used my Philippines SIM's many times over and over in many cell phones in the past 4 almost 5 years so they are in rough shape hehe.

@dhlizard I have never had any one phone long enough in the States to worry about a worn out SIM but I live in the States and in the Philippines and I have a few SIM's from the Philippines that are from 2008 and they are worn pretty bad. Problem with worn SIM cards is sometimes when inserted in to the phone the phone does not always detect the SIM and then you need to play with it to get it working or at times the phone will actually lose contact with the SIM and your phone will show up one day saying no SIM making you take it out and reinsert it again and as I mentioned playing with it for it to work. Just my experience with worn out SIM cards.

I'm pretty sure that your apps will not be tampered with by iTunes even if you sync with another PC iTunes stores all apps purchased from them by your Apple ID and it will automaticly detect the apps on the iPhone and compair to the apps installed/paid installed through your Apple ID account. The only thing that will change that is if you wipe the apps off the phone which removes your saved data OR you use a different iTunes account meaning if the apps that was purchased from say your Apple ID account and not his own. If you dont want him on your account then when you create a new ID on his PC iTunes will not have his apps listed and will not sync any purchased/non-purchased apps from previous Apple ID account. Edit: iCloud uses your Apple ID account so anything stored on their will still be there no matter what PC you use as long as you login to the same Apple ID account as your MacBook has stored.

@GypsyHeart Either your iPhone is not activated or it is not unlocked as you say it is and this is why your T-Mobile SIM will not work with your iPhone. You posted your iOS to which you updated too but what is your baseband ? Ultrasn0w does not unlock any baseband it only works on cretin basebands. To check what baseband/Modem Firmware you have go to: Settings > General > About and check the “Modem Firmware” section at the bottom of the page. If the Modem Firmware on your iPhone 3GS is any of the following: 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, or 06.15.00 you can unlock it using Ultrasn0w.

@Niceguy2010 I'm pretty sure no matter what country you live in a cell phone carrier like T-Mobile or AT&T will not sell you a jailbroken / hack unlocked iDevice. The iDevice would be wiped clean if the company got a hold of such a device and then they would re program it for their company and if they want to sell it unlocked it will be carrier unlocked not unlocked from a jailbreak and or a hack. Regardless, His iPhone is locked not unlocked as it seems his OP stated. EDIT: Looking back at an older post I answered of amvtop10 this is cause he updated his iOS and it updated his baseband when he did it to an unlockable baseband.

The number I have givien to you is a code to show your IMEI number within your iPhone device, This IMEI number is what you need to give to the original carrier who sold you the iPhone in order to request for an unlock on your iPhone. If you are saying T-Mobile sold you the iPhone then T-Mobile is the one you need to talk to/contact in order to try and see if your iPhone is eligible for unlocking. AT&T will NOT issue you an unlock if the iPhone device was not purchased from AT&T.

@amvtop10. You are double posting and you did not make it clear in your OP and correct in what you wanted. As for wanting to know if T-Mobile will IMEI unlock your phone? Only T-Mobile can answer that, as slavakulikoff said Call T-Mobile! In your OP the way you put it was that you bought your iPhone from T-Mobile Jailbroken and Unlocked.

If you still have the old SIM card and ask the carrier they might do it but i'm sure they will ask you why you changed to a new one to start with and the reason for going back to the old one. If you are good at making up some GREAT story they might do it and might cost a fee.
