As a long time firearms instructor I was pleased to see this article. So many people have the same fears as Shannon and hopefully this will help them to see that shooting is/ can be enjoyable. I believe that safety always comes first and as a result shooting can also be fun. My Dad taught me how to shoot when I was 9 years old and I am now 58. My firm belief is that as long as you respect a weapon and understand all the safe handling requirements that go along with shooting then it will be a positive experience. Shannon I commend you on facing your fear because you now have a better understanding about weapons and weapons safety.
