encoding=Sui Generis : Friday Flip-through: Cult of the Amateur

Good point on the improving your writing skills thing. Didn't think of that. I guess the same can be said of podcast (audio) and self-made videos/photos. It gives practice to help the person learn/improve on his/her skills.

Hm. Sounds interesting. A lot to take in from the site, so I'll need more time to really digest it all. But thanks for pointing it out.

encoding=Sui Generis : Scheduled Personal Start Pages

Yeah, categories do help. I do the same in Google reader and all. But I think for some people, the automation of it will be advantageous. For people who have more or less a fixed schedule, the automation makes it easier.

For example, I recall someone at Podcamp Boston 2 mentioning how he set up different Firefox profiles for different days. The different profiles would open various social networks by default. Basically that helped him create a schedule to manage the many networks he was on.

encoding=Sui Generis : Snowboarding and Discomfort

Yeah, it doesn't really hurt most of the time. Depends on how you fall and how fast you're going. In general it doesn't hurt. And that's a great point, that I should write more about later. =). Haha. And I can't do the toeside thing either.

Yeah. A quote I just found, "You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself." - Galileo. I think that is so true. And the formal education system needs to think in that manner. Instead of teaching, letting the students understand themselves.

I'm looking forward to seeing others' thoughts as well, and hopefully more people will join in the conversation. If you're willing, you could help spread the post, and hopefully more others will come and read, and join in. =).

Yeah, I do. And I'm really glad for it. But at the same time, I think we all do. It's only a matter of whether you stop and count it, and how much you acknowledge their contribution.

I love the message of your blog. I'll be sure to subscribe to it. It's a great message, so keep it up! =).

encoding=Sui Generis : Your Personal Brand

Good point. But yeah, I think if you want to find it, there are ways. The easiest is to ask. Yes, not everyone will give you honest criticism, but that's where your friends and people you trust come in. In today's world, I'd say Google is a great tool. And yes, it's similar to what people "working on creating a personal brand" do. Personally, I believe we all have a personal brand. It's a matter of how we influence it. The methods used by the "personal branding" folks are the same things we can do.
