Online Aspect : Why you should never use a CAPTCHA

I agree -- CAPTCHA does not make much sense most of the time. There are plenty of other ways to defer bots. I don't use CAPTCHA on www.postjobfree.com at all. And you know what -- the hardest part was to deal with spam generated by humans, not by bots. Fortunately we were able to automate spam moderation too (no CAPTCHA as usual): http://postjobfree.blogspot.com/2009/06/postjobfr...

You didn't even try Gmail while working for Microsoft? Is it because Microsoft doesn't like when MS employees use Gmail (or other Google products)?

Paul Kedrosky: Infectious Greed : Fun with Fermi Problems

If sun stops radiating energy, Earth's surface temperature would drop to about 1K (-273C). If humans have less than 100 years to prepare -- everyone would die. But even 100 years of preparation would give only slim chance of survival. Humans have trouble with having autonomous civilization in antarctic winter (-70C). That's almost nothing in comparison with no Sun at all.
