HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Comic : The Desecrator

I am awed and terrified of that aspect of Japanese technology. Seat warmer is nice but I'm still very wary of everything else. Did you know there are ones that even play songs to mask the, er, "bathroom sounds" you make? God bless Japan.

I'm a Tyrion girl myself :) The Imp is pimp. Also, Arya, and surprisingly Jaime. I think he's the most well-developed character, yucky tendencies notwithstanding...

We have HBO and still haven't erased the recording of the first ep. Come over when you get a chance so you guys can watch it. Or listen to the audiobooks; downside: I've heard they're about 33 hours apiece.

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Comic : The Measure Of A Fan

We attended a Q&A with him just a few weeks ago and I must say I did not get the same impression. He rambled on for quite a bit about a lot of things that either did not make sense or did not sound like they were true. It was entertaining, don't get me wrong, but it was kind of the same level as getting cornered by your favorite drunk relative as he tells you random, long-winded stories.

Your site looks amazing! Can you let me know where you got your countdown ticker from? Also do you know if you can enable the comments section in just one page but not all of them? I can't seem to figure it out! I want to add a page where people can give us song suggestions.

Baaah, I think I blocked out the fact that they are remaking Oldboy. They are going to sanitize it and totally lose the F'ed up ending.

The book is great but pretty disturbing, particularly with regards to Hakan. There is one scene that is so incredibly tense that I had to put the book away to calm myself down a bit. I don't like NOT giving things a chance, but so far Hollywood's track record for remaking amazing foreign films has been really, REALLY bad. The Departed was great but honestly Scorsese actually made his own movie out of "Infernal Affairs" instead of just stealing the idea. Ok, foreign-movie-geek-rant over.

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Comic : The Glorious Hole

I tend to agree with most of your points. I personally liked the ending. Someone on a different forum said it was emotionally satisfying, even if it wasn't intellectually satisfying and I think that's how I feel about the finale. Didn't love it or think it was ground-breaking but I think with so much build-up it, they (writers, network, etc) made it really REALLY easy to set high expectations, so I understand people's disappointment. I defintely agree with what you are saying, about our collective griping about series' ending. I thought the BSG ending was kind of lame but it doesn't detract from the excellence of the rest of the show (the 1st and 2nd season, anyway). I can't honestly think of any show where everyone agreed it was the "best ending ever" although I keep hearing about how awesome Chuck has been so far. Maybe they'll break the mold.

Interestingly enough, my sisters and I have had the discussion of what a penguin would taste like. Fishy or chickeny? They swim and eat fish so they would probably be sushi-like, but they ARE birds, and everything tastes like chicken. Or maybe a little of both?

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Comic : Didn't You Get That Memo?

Oh noes, political/social/religious discussion of pandora box proportions! In the midst of all this, a ray of real hope: that people have been contributing overwhelmingly to this cause to help people through an unthinkable tragedy. Let's spread the love and hope for a change once in a while, yeah? The political/intellectual debate about what these people said is interesting and all, but there are hundreds of thousands of people still in need too. That's the real story, in the end. This is all petty when you think about the desperation of all those people frightened, desperate and dying. I've been through some pretty major disasters myself and I can tell you as a certainty that these people do not care about poll numbers or ratings. They want to find their loved ones and make sure their children survive through this. Thank you if you have donated. If you cannot afford to, spread the word. Pray for these people, think good thoughts. Hating/controversy/arguing is easy. Compassion is what takes work.

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Comic : Habeas Jennifer's Corpus

I kinda want to see this movie, but mostly in the dollar-theater/drive-in-movie sense. I hear it's Juno dialogue mixed with mostly shitty horror. It's funny but I thought Juno's dialogue was GENIUS the first time I watched it. Within 2 minutes of my second viewing I had changed my mind. Still a good movie but really, it gets a little annoying hearing the characters yammer on in kitschy semi-hipster dialogue.

I read the book and it had an interesting premise I suppose but it didn't really deal with anything science fiction-y. It's mostly a romance, with a dash and sprinkling of sci fi. It's ok I suppose but I didn't find it especially moving. Both characters got a little annoying at times and are pretty unrelatable (for more than the obvious reason of time-traveling). There was also the creepy factor for me: since the guy time travels (involuntarily) he meets his wife when she's just a child, so she knows him since she's 5 and is basically in love with him her whole life. I dunno, I suppose that's romantic but to me that was a little on the creepy side of things. I watch a lot of Law and Order SVU though.
