/Film : Michael Cera Has No Interest In Ghostbusters 3, Jack Black Would Bust Ghosts If He Could

I could see Black being the new Ray Stantz -esque character. Also, the exposition heavy scientist route might chill the crazy man persona.

"a study of gang culture in LA today"? so, not only do we lose the character of NYC but also the wacky gang identities as well? i don't want to see Crips and Bloods. i want baseball furies and lizzies. i want personality. i want the original film. and i don't want tony scott's pink jogging shorts anywhere near The Warriors

was it cunningham's fault though? or studio involvement? i was under the impression that the studio's pushiness on a proposed 'Neuromancer' project is what made him leave that film, and movie-making altogether.

great news!!! it's been far too long since Birth. Glazer is such a skilled and singular filmmaker that I think anytime he's willing to tell a story is a good time to get his projects fast-tracked. he's what chris cunningham could've been to films is he ever got the chance to make one.

/Film : Angels & Demons - What Did You Think?

i agree wholeheartedly about A&D being far better than Da Vinci Code. Though, that said, it still isn't any good. There were a few solid suspense sequences but overall it was like watching someone cook a meal with no enthusiasm. now i pre-heat the oven. now i chop the onions. now i cut the steak. see how entertaining this is! like that.

i would think it's quite the other way around. it's considered cool to hate on tarantino and so very hipster-y to be contrarian. and FYI, "Malick" (as in Terrance) is a director who i see as total d-bag hipster bait.

i hope dunst does NOT come back.
i agree with you --it does squarely come down to the story. but, in my opinion, Apatow's longer run times take away from the film's entertainment value for me. and don't get me wrong, i love long films --so long as the story and the atmosphere can support that length of time. but with apatow --a filmmaker so apt at improv and situation-- the longer those scenes roll on, it goes from being fresh and funny and feeling off the cuff to feeling tiresome and padded for no reason other than not having an editorial eye for when to punctuate a scene. take freaks and geeks -- apatow's genius writing is fully served by both the entertainment value and the run time. the jokes go on only as long as they have to. the scenes feel fresh and leave me wanting more from the characters. and the results, in my opinion, are far more skilled than his 3 hour knocked up director's cut.

not other comedically-driven filmmakers. and the 2 and halfhour plus films have only really resurged in genre films and event films as of late. before that, you would'nt have seen a dramedy that was over 100 minutes.

yeah, but apatow is so freakin' self-indulgent with his run times that it nearly kills the overall tone of his work. comedy isn't supposed to be laborious. he should just stick to 2 hours and under.
