Your Excellence Project : Episode 25: The 25th Episode Celebration

Thanks! I think this is the one that was by far the most "unconventional" episode but it was a lot of fun to put together. And it was a risk, but both Thomas and myself think it was a risk worth taking. Who knows ... the "Your Excellence Project" concert might just be around the corner.

Your Excellence Project : Turning 20 and Dealing with Young Punks

You know we've actually been talking about it. This episode was really interesting to do because we recorded around an hour and 20 minutes. Editing it down to under 30 was a bear, but somehow it worked. If I put an "outtakes" together of the episode I think people would have enjoyed it as well. It's something for us to consider!

Your Excellence Project : Episode 10: Our Podcast So Far - The Review

Your Excellence Project : Episode 09: Ups and Downs - Answering Kevin's Question

AlexanderDAgr8, You're absolutely right. Both Thomas and I were circling around that point, but it's because we didn't want to get harassed by "Megadodo Publications" the original publishers of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" out in Ursa Minor Beta for infringing on a galactic copywrite like "Don't Panic." Ever since Douglas Adams wrote it in his books it's been nothing but trouble. Thanks for the input. Next time we'll throw caution to the wind and respond from our hearts! :)

Your Excellence Project : Change: What A Pain!

Pain forces us to acknowledge a situation that we may not be ready to acknowledge. Knowing that the pain is coming lessens the blow and may allow us to not feel the intensity of the situation so much. Knowing I'm going to put the 9-volt battery to my tongue let's me know the pain is coming and be ready for the "intensity," but when the pain is not known about and unexpected ... The empathy you feel for those who are going through the struggle, the concern shown for the unknown of the situation, and even your own feeling of loss are all good emotional outlets to move through, but it's the overcoming the "sadness" where real growth can occur. It's good to acknowledge the negative moments in our lives, but it's better to keep trying to move forward and help those who need you more than your pain does. I guess what I'm trying to get down to saying is this, If you have friends who lost their employment make sure to send them my way at the LDS ERS. We can help out, even if it's just a shoulder to lean on during this time.

Your Excellence Project : Episode 07: Get Out Of My Head!!!

Kevin, Thanks so much for taking the time to write a comment. I'm happy that things we say have made you think about what you're doing yourself. I hope that we can continue that process for you as we keep podcasting and sharing ideas. I know for both Thomas and myself we're still getting the flow of what we're doing down. Being the guy who edits our episodes I find myself going back and thinking, "That was a good idea ... I should write that down." So the fact that it's not just me but someone else is finding what we say interesting and "ponderous" is wonderful. Let me quickly respond to your two thoughts: 1) The way we record these podcasts is Thomas comes over my house and we sit in the same room and talk back and forth. We tried at one time recording everything through Skype calls (which is a good way to start podcasting). What we found out is when "Skype-ing" we would wait for what we thought was a lull in the conversation before the other person would talk. It never felt natural. I feel our conversations now flow better and have a natural progression. Thank you for acknowledging the back and forth nature of our episodes. 2) We are trying to create an aggregation of our "information" so when we talk about a TED Talk, Book or other influence we can put those in a location for you to consume. This means, hopefully, that we will be more apt to suggest something that we like instead of just infusing the listener to our own ramblings. I know connecting to the other influences we have had will allow our audience to see how we come to our conclusions instead of just thinking we are guys who do nothing but think about this stuff all day long. :) So stay tuned and we should have something up on that shortly. Thank you for your comments. They are really appreciated! P.S. I'm also glad to see it was the 80's movies and not the 80's pizza hut concert (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAn49d6-Jqo) you choose for the youtube vid (yeah ... I had the tape back in the 80's ... and now).

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Quick Tip:Facebook Groups Change Yet Again

I'll be interested to hear how your experience with the Groups works out for you. I've noticed, since October when this change occurred, how many groups I now belong to without ever joining. It's a little frustrating to see that I belong to so many now, but alas that is the way of Facebook at times. The nice thing is that I don't see what is happening in these groups unless I get overly inundated with spam. Hopefully your groups are more collaborative than the ones I belong. It is good to note that the groups overhaul didn't affect groups created before October ... just all the groups after the fact. So if you had a thriving working group nothing really changed for you. Keep me updated because I would love to hear more about how your group is working successfully. Those stories are great to hear about and post!

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Great Microsoft Office 2010 Links

Personally ... I've always thought that Microsoft gets more successul after they release Service Pack 3 of products. I know a lot of people love Microsoft XP, but few remember when it launched how horrible an OS it was. It was buggy and slow and finally fixed itself with Service Pack 1. It wasn't until Service Pack 3 that XP really became a great OS. Same thing happens with their other products. Office 2007 has had two Service Packs. Office 2010 feels like Office 2007 Service Pack 3. They fixed a number of problems and updated a look and feel that operates smoother. Migrating to Office 2010 will feel really smooth after using Office 2007. I'm sure you'll see this when you upgrade. Which ... I hope is soon. :)

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Quick Tip: Increase Your Revenues with Education

One of the things people underestimate is the power of order and directions. When you work on a goal you have an end goal in mind. You create actions to move you towards the end destination. However, we don't always thing about those terms when we look at business interactions. A successful business is more than just information. We need to have end goals in mind and create actions to get our consumers and clients to where we want them to be. The simpler the process, the easier it is to engage our audience. Good luck with the redesign!

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Facebook Privacy Settings – Stardate 5.14.2010

My favorite item on this list is the under the "Facebook Ads" settings where it states on the page "Facebook does not give third party applications or networks the right to use your name or picture in ads. If this is allowed in the future this setting will govern the usage of that information." It makes me wonder what other "settings" are in Facebook that don't work right now, but when turned on we will not know about it. :) I'm glad this helped you out!

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Start 2010 with the Organizational Bang!

That's great Chris. The one thing I really like about Microsoft products is how they try to make every function available to you through a multiple of different ways. One I love quick keys, so being able to set up "Categories" that I can use by just hitting <ctrl> <function key> is also really great. That way ... I never have to move to the mouse from my keyboard. And to me that's golden. I'm glad to see you started playing around with the categories. Start using them and you'll be able to see some cool functionality.

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Signing Up for the Big 3

It's amazing the ability we have to impact when we have the ability to connect. I think that is the whole innovation of "Social Media" in todays world is the possibility of connection. The overwhelming thought is the maintenance. But with really great tools out, like Digsby, it makes working in these complex spaces really easy. Now if they could implement Skype I would a happy camper. :)

Get Enoch's 10 Minute Technology Tips : Blogging in 10 minutes – it can be done

Larry, I'm so happy that you're starting to implement a system for blogging that works for you. I doing activities in 10 minutes and looking at how the 10 minutes can be used effectively. One of the things I've found that works well is writing down the tasks that I wanted to accomplish. A mini "goals" list. Then once you have those goals ... you prioritize what you focus on for the day. Then when you want to incorporate more tasks, you just add another 10 minutes. That way you work a lot more effective and focused. Of course ... I need to implement a better 10 minutes as well. :)
