If you haven't read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged", now is the time to do so. Compare her 'Directive 10-289' with what is going on present day - it should scare the daylights out of everyone. She saw this coming 50 years ago.

It's time for everyone in America to do two things: (1) Pay Attention and (2) Think. If everyone will simply do those two things every day, we will be fine. If most people continue to fail to do those two things, the mess we are now faced with will continue to worsen.

Guess who was the number 5 recipient of AIG campaign contributions - my illustrious Democrat Senator Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. What a surprise!

Baucus is owned by out of state special interests and was just re-elected to his sixth term last fall. His Republican opponent was an 85 year old who the libs crossed over and voted for in a crowded primary field - they obviously orchestrated that effort and they succeeded in stealing the election so Baucus would not have a legitimate opponent in the general election. The 85 year old guy wasn't even a token opponent for Baucus - he's one of those guys who has run for just about every office in the state over the past 40 years and never won anything. There was essentially no campaign, as you can imagine. As a result, Baucus has adopted the attitude that he is untouchable, which is why he is going to be the Senate point man on Obama's health care agenda. Baucus already got the SCHIP legislation passed and signed, now he's publicly stated he is going after the federal health insurance issue. Get used to hearing his name a lot once the push to nationalize health care starts, probably this summer or fall.

Counting his two terms as a US Representative, Baucus has now been in Congress for 35 years and he will hit the 40 year mark by the time his current term expires in 2014. He is definitely a big part of the problem in DC but with his financial war chest and personal wealth combined with the growing liberal presence in Montana due to a large influx of out-of-state libs (many of them enviros), he'll be there as long as he wants to be. I'm sorry that Montana can't do any better than Baucus and that we continue to force the nation to deal with him as a US Senator.
