Cat, I totally agree! I see a lot of sweeps bloggers change their icon, but I would never do that. Luckily for this contest you only have to change one OR the other, NOT both! :) If you still want to enter, you can do the background and be good to do!

Kim, no, you can't send out newsletters with Feedburner, it just mails out your blog posts.

Luckily GFC has a one-click unsubscribe, so if folks don't like it, they can remove themselves easily! :)

Alison, GFC is really meant to function as a wider way for people to connect, so you might want to just start subscribing using RSS and adding feeds to your reader. Otherwise, you might be doing a lot of unsubscribing from newsletters! :)

Cat, I've thought about purchasing a premium newsletter service too (still may, someday). There are definitely some limitations with GFC, however, since most of us are already using GFC, we might as well take advantage of the newsletter feature! :)
