I agree with you that Semaj should pay for the damage, regardless of how long it takes (years even); it teaches a valuable lesson. In fact, if it does take a while, it helps to keep the lesson on the forefront of the boy's mind.

However, it doesn't solve the root problems that this boy is dealing with.

If his mother is addressed, in whatever means, that doesn't solve the boys problems either.

At this point, Semaj needs intensive guidance in order to set him on the right track.

Eleven years old is an early age in one's lifetime.
