Dallas Cowboys Nation : With the Offseason Started In Dallas, Moves Can Be Made

We're not GM's because we didn't buy a football team. That doesn't mean we're idiots though. Barber was never as good as everyone thought he was. He had a role and in it he was pretty good, but take him out of that closer role and you've got a guy that isn't that fast and isn't very elusive. His injuries are why I think we should trade him. Everyone has been saying it for years now, that his running style is going to shorten his career. I think it already has started to do that, or else he would stay healthier more. And we're at two years now, in a row, of him having multiple sidelining injuries. As for Bennett, the problem with him isn't his lack of production, quite the contrary. He's producing too much, off the field. It's a major tell how someone divides their time. He spends more time than any other Cowboys player online Tweeting and making videos and whatnot. His production on the field this last preseason started slipping within a week of MartyB coming out to play. His priorities are screwed up and his character is rather low, especially considering some of Marty B's antics online. If he would just buckle down and focus on football then he would be worth keeping. As it is we've got the T without the O.

Dallas Cowboys Nation : Miles Austin or Gerald Sensabaugh? Offseason Questions Loom

I have to agree with Bags on this one. (shh. Don't tell anyone.) We paid a lot of money for Roy and kept paying him years after he started sucking. Paying Sensabaugh a franchise salary for one year would be far from the worst thing we could do. I'm thinking we should put that tag on Austin though, to buy us a year before we sign him to a long term deal. He needs to prove himself for more than just 13 games.

Sadly, though, we'll likely get a new offensive coordinator only once Garrett is promoted to head coach. Barring and glaring screw ups in 2010, it's bound to happen. And by glaring I mean mistakes that even Jerry Jones can't ignore.

Dallas Cowboys Nation : Wade Phillips Stays In Dallas: Here's Why It Doesn't Suck

I'm not abandoning the real issue because I don't like Garrett. I'm simply saying that if an 1/8 of a yard per carry from what is widely considered a top ground unit is what you're hoping for, then maybe as a coach, you shouldn't be trying it on the ground. That's where my problem lies with Garrett. He didn't really pick bad plays, and he didn't fail to make things work. He did fail to recognize that an incompletion is worth more than an 1/8 of a yard. At least throwing it he could've had a chance. Something that obviously wasn't there by trying to run between an under-performing line's blocks.

It's not all on Garrett. What's on Garrett is having a top 5 offense each year and still being unable to convert on third and fourth and short repeatedly while having the most well-executing and successful offense he's had to date. If you're trying to vindicate Garrett you'll need more than stats. Offense is about points, and while we've gotten plenty of those, we've missed the ones that count. Calling an ineffective Barber over and over doesn't make him effective. It's Garrett's job to recognize what's not working and find something else. You and I talked the other day and I mentioned the O-Line needs work, and has for several years now. Romo has done an amazing job of keeping the heat off of Adams, Kosier, Gurode, Davis, and Colombo, or as many have stated it, he has made the line look good with his ability to scramble and make a play. Romo has done as much as Austin has to help keep Garrett out of the fire. Maybe it's time people look past the talent and see what, or who, is holding them back. I don't know if he should be fired or not. As you point out, he has done something right or the stats wouldn't be part of the argument. But he needs help calling the plays better because we're getting killed by defenses who watch film and know what plays we'll call before we do. The players have executed very well. Even when the play was spotted they still made it happen many times. Sometimes you need a scheme that the defense didn't get a copy of. Of course after the Vikings game the focus will be the O-Line. For good reason too, who knew such a reckless pass rush would totally shut us down.

Dallas Cowboys Nation : Dallas Cowboys Lose to Minnesota Vikings: Time To Move On

We certainly need a kicker now, too bad Folk couldn't get back to form after his surgery. As for Jason Garrett, I hate to say it and admit that we're going to go right back down this road—because I said it a lot before the '09 season started—but you're right. I was screaming at the beautiful and large LCD TV I have, damning it for showing me the retardation of Garrett in such brilliant and high definition display. When you have a team that is so hell bent, and successful, to pressure the QB, a draw play isn't the best idea. A draw play, instead of making the defense pay for coming too aggressively, actually favors the defense in that case. It allows time for the ball to go no where while the defense sets up and goes after it. Yet Garrett couldn't think of a better type of run play than that? I bet of the run plays we did call, 80 percent or more were draws. Stupid. He needs to go. As for Sensabaugh, he could have done better by doing—anything really. It was Newman that blew the coverage on that play though. Sensabaugh tried to pick it up, and did a wonderful job of staying with him, but he forgot to defend the pass. Certainly one of the bigger WTF?!?!?! moments this season.

Dallas Cowboys Nation : Roy Williams Steps Up In Playoffs To Add New Weapon To Cowboys

I just liked the fact that he made catches. He wasn't targeted much more than what he caught, having only missed one on a deep shot that was off target, and out of bounds. But him making plays, any plays, helps our offense by spreading the defense further. We've got Austin, Crayton, and Williams to cover; Witten and Phillips to cover, as well as our backs Barber, Jones, and Choice who all need to be covered even in passing situations. That's just a lot to have to cover at any one time. But as long as Williams is dropping balls he won't be thrown to, and that's a fact the Vikings D will be banking on.

Dallas Cowboys Nation : Philadelphia Eagles Help Dallas Cowboys Win in Playoffs

I didn't happen to watch it, but I seriously doubt that's going to be the case. McNabb is a comfortable fit in Philly, and he's still good at what he does. They lost this year because their rushing attack fell wayward and their defense just couldn't hold up when the rush-less offense was three-and-out repeatedly.

I agree. Even Aikman and Buck commented about how nervous he looked because he did that coming out of the locker room. I think that was the biggest indicator of just how big of a game that was for them, the fact they were as nervous and had so much pressure to win based on the two regular season games against Dallas.

All I can say is that Karma is indeed a bitch. That spitting incident happened before the week 17 game, so since that happened the Cowboys have shut them out, and blown them out.
Dallas Cowboys Nation : Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys - Wild Card Game Preview

I agree Mark. Tony Romo had tons of time to find an open target last week, even when the Eagles did send more than 4 at him. Granted they didn't do that enough to have a chance to stop the Cowboys, but I don't think it's going to change any. Marc Colombo coming back in and getting the start will make a difference. Doug Free has done very well in his place, but Colombo brings a certain attitude, a nasty meanness, that can change the way that line plays. As for our Dline, considering Cole at center for Philly, that's just a mismatch in skill and experience. This is going to be a good game.

Dallas Cowboys Nation : Spitting On The Star? A Real Eagles Fan

It is football, dubbed the Gridiron sport for its brutal nature. The problem is that the players are the ones who are supposed to be brutal, not the fans. And any collective that thinks it's a good thing when a player ends his career because of such a severe injury is retarded. But that's okay, our Star will survive. We'll just cling to our 5 Super Bowl trophies for consolation. As for Dave spitting on the Star, he's an employee of the organization, not a fan. A fan defecating on the Star is one thing, but an employee of a rival team disrespecting us so blatantly is just unacceptable. That's why you're precious Eagles are issuing apologies, before the NFL issues fines!

And furthermore, who is to say that this wasn't a gambling ploy? I mean how many people do you think bet money that the Colts would beat the Jets? How many people lost money because of that decision to sit starters? It's just unethical.
