lisa - very cool of you to comment here! we do in fact make a lot of use of skype for meetings and stuff. for connect groups online we use a lot of tokbox (so that we can have multiple video chatters in there at the same time). but there's a LOT of great use for skype for sure. our campus pastors in africa connect with us frequently for conversations on skype and that saves a TON of money on int'l phone calls for sure PLUS gives us the added benefit of VIDEO. woohoo!

ok i don't know where i've been, but i'm really happy to have found this (via NicCharalambous - thx dude). you've said it well. online church seems to be so intimidating to so many offline church people. i think it is a tradition for many of us in church to despise what we do not understand. but, thank God there are the Brandon Donaldsons, Bobby Gruenewalds, Nic Charalambouses, and others who are helping blaze a trail into online church. such a perfect example you give, paul, in your response earlier - why do we need more types of churches? different varieties of people wil be reached by more varieties of churches. it isn't that baptists and methodists must compete. there's plenty of people yet to be reached, and that's why we're doing online church at healing place church. it's not about those who are already in church. it is for those who are not yet here. there are those who don't come to church, those who won't come to church, and those who can't come to church. so for all of those, whatever their reason - by ALL means, let's take church to them. thanks for posting this. i'm so glad to have found your site. i'll be back for more... :-)

i misspelled GIRAFFE in 2nd grade and wound up with 3rd place in the spelling bee, but in 3rd grade a made a comeback and won. i was on my hs paper, and i did a great job - not because of ability but because everyone else was worse than me. my middle name isn't bernice. i've broken 15 bones (i think that's the count) but i've still got all of me with me (and then some...) i had a similar incident on a diving board but mine was on the short one. i've never seen braveheart, schindler's list, saving private ryan, or band of brothers. i'm not really ok with that, but with 5 kids, i don't get to pick very often. i once lived in an apartment that could be seen from the lion monument in waterloo where napoleon was defeated. i graduated high school in the philippines. and i've been to iceland. but i've never been to mexico, vermont, alaska, nigeria, or antarctica. ok. that's enough. sum it up to say i'm blessed. thank God for missionary parents who didn't name me cora alice.
