They could have called a tow, with the weather/storm/holiday it would have been low priority and the company just hasn't gotten to it yet. Unless you are tagged downtown by the SPD at 4pm, it could take a while to tow.

Heard in my own home this week.... Me: "How cool, you get two turkey dinners this week! 1 at home and 1 at school" 11 yr old - "Um Mom, that's not turkey at school" Perhaps we should look at the entire menu before we start worrying about the beverage!

I voted YES to get the state out of the liquor business for one main reason. A DUI suspect "could" have a valid argument that the State supplied their booze so how could the State then prosecute? Totally bizarre to me.

The doctor explained, later, that with so many kids getting the shot, very few cases of chicken pox are reported anymore. The vaccine makes it possible for him to get shingles, just like having the disease. That is what I regret, because he may never have had the pox itself. Its one of those things that as a parent, its hard to know. You do the research available at the time and trust your gut. Just sucks when the research changes later. That is what worries me about this new vaccine. What will the LATER studies show? Luckily, I have some time for more research to be done.

I have a young boy almost at the age for the shot. My worry is, I've found zero evidence of any long term side effects, especially for boys. What if it effects their fertility long term? What ARE the long term side effects, if any? That is my only fear. I regret the chicken pox vaccine now, since the chances of him contracting it are now so slim but the vaccine will make it possible for him to get shingles later. After watching an older relative deal with shingles, I changed my mind. Too late, my son already had the shot. I am 100% for the idea of the shot - for boys and girls. I just worry about the side effects that we do not know about yet. And we must still teach and parent our children, this vaccine only covers a very SMALL portion of HPV out there.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Alleged dognapper arrested despite Husky’s return | Crime | Marysville News

The way we used it, I think its ok. We still have it set up just in case a different foster is also an escape artist. But we've also buried chicken wire and concrete under a full acre of fencing, added the top parts, etc. We train, they are generally welll behaved and can visit dog parks and such. Some breeds though, like Mals and Huskies, will get out just prove they CAN. I don't believe we did anything wrong, being that she had to be ON the fence before getting shocked. We just ran out of options, unless we crated her. I didn't move out north and fence a full acre so the dog goes in a crate to keep her safe. Crates are great for sleeping, dens, etc. I found with some of the Fosters, the crates also remind them of the kennel they were dumped in. For the mental issues, that can be just as bad. I don't like the idea of only use a shock fence as their only protection. 1, other critters can get in. 2, a Husky/Mal's fur is so thick it protects them some and most figure out if they run really fast, it only hurts a bit. Plus like the other poster, they won't want to come back in

Totally agree with you! Until - you meet a husky, Alaskan Malamute or mix thereof, who are way smarter than you. We had a Mal and then Fostered and I fully admit all of them were smarter than us poor, suffering humans. The worst, went under the fence. We fixed under. So she went over a 6' wooden fence. We fixed over. She went over the 2' extension we added. We fixed it again So she then went THROUGH the fence. Now, mind, she didn't GO anywhere. Seriously. She would go to the front door and lay down, smug as a bug in a rug. We resorted to a shock collar that would ONLY shock her if she was actually TOUCHING the fence. She could get right up to it and not get shocked. We had to protect her and didn't want to put her in a small kennel or crate her. We were home with her. She was just smart. She could also tell if we turned it off, never did figure that one out.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Longshoremen: Longview labor dispute about to get worse | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather,

I am not FOR the union at all, just noted how much power they already have. They won't give it up, not easily. It'll get WAY worse first. I am one that lost her job when the ILWU tried to bring the union into Agency offices. There was a MASS layoff in Seattle while everyone relocated to Right To Work States. That's why Hanjin is now processed in Salt Lake City or others in Virginiia Beach or Phoenix. I don't deserve the wages they wanted my company to pay me. I am clerk, nothing glorious. Totally not worth $120,000 a year. That's insane and would have totally driven up the prices of everything if not shutting down all the ports here.

The problem lies if they DO make another big stink. The conomy depends on the Longshoremen, and they KNOW it. I work with them everyday doing international container shipping. That 1 day "strike" caused vessels to be delayed, truckers to be out of work, trains either were not filled or left late. It messed up not just the Seattle area, but inland schedules as well. The local truckers want a union and they won't cross a line, if there is one. If they do protest, the rest of the Ports will follow. We could lose valuable shipping companies to other Ports, like Oakland or Long Beach. They are also very close to end of their current contract. This could be posturing just for that, who knows? Last time there was a strike, in 1999, the only one who benefited was Vancouver, Canada and barge companies. We sent the ships to Vancouver to unload to barges, brought the barges back and stacked them up in the Port. It was horrible and lasted 13 days. No truckers moved, not just because they wouldn't cross the line, but because it takes Longshoremen to open the gate.

You know, I don't see this story as it against the COPS - the awesome dudes on the street. This is more of a shot at the management of SPD. Which makes my employer sound like a genius and all my files are stored on thumb drives. I think the real, honest, good day to day cops LOVE this story and probably helped KOMO get it, because they've been begging the Gold for help with this forever. The techies begged for new equipment. They had a roof top leak? Insurance should have covered all the repair AND data recovery. Sometimes the story doesn't show you who is behind the scenes, giving the story. I would bet $ there's a cop out there heloing get these stories published. Because if they are not published, it won't get fixed. It is that kind of company SPD is. Not the poor employees on the street, but the idiots with the offices with doors. Those are the ones this is addressed to, the way I see it.

Bless you! I've a friend with a child in the same boat, and boy is it rocky. You must have a special gift because I couldn't do it. At least I don't think so. I've only seen her son socially and such, but just particpating in little league was a nightmare for the kid, the mom and the coaches. They all tried, they all cried and they all succeeded. But it brought tears to my eyes watching my friend. I wish you all the luck and hope your road isn't too rocky.

Its NOT the IEP issue...its the No Child Left Behind Act that has tied the two together. IEPs are a wonderful, needed addition to the education system. It helps the kids that may slip through the cracks before they do and prevents further slips. Its those that take advantage that make me crazy. Just like those on disability or taxes or special parking spots for pregnant people that only appeared AFTER I was pregnant...LOL

I am not meaning too at ALL. One of the best kids I know is on one, which is why I kept using quotes. It is "those" kids with "those" parents who ruin for kids, like yours, who DO need extra help, who DESERVE extra help and get it from BOTH the teacher and the parent/family/home. You don't sound like a parent that would allow your child to attend a field trip if they misbehaved in class the day before, IEP or not. The Field Trip example is perfect because while the school may not to say, the child can't go, the PARENT can. My child's consequences would be a LOT tougher than no field trip if he did something like that, as I imagine yours and most others would be. Its again those bad apples ruining it. I meant no offense at all. We need IEPs to protect students get the education they need. But we also need parents, like you, who PARENT.

OR a perceived disability. A no-longer friend got her kid one due to a speech issue, which was really lack of dental care. It meant for her, she didn't have to get off the barstool to be a parent. Not all are like that, I've got friends with kids with serious problems and bless them, they parent and parent HARD. I don't know if I could do it. The small percentage of parents that DO take advantage are the ones that are ruining it all Like normal though...a few spoiled apples and all. wish I knew the answers, the only thing I do is be a parent and not a friend and particpate as much as I can in his school as his advocoate but not his cheerleader.
