Jewish Daily Forward : Are Ultra-Orthodox Turning Away From Vaccination? – Forward.com

Ok, so I was curious about this and looked for links to more info in your comment, but you had none. So I clicked on your name, figuring perhaps you post info on your Facebook page. And I wasn't wrong. I found this drivel: "the vaccine issue is not just about science (pro study vs anti study), pro/con opinions and name-calling. It is a spiritual battle. Introducing animal DNA, viruses and carcinogenic chemicals into a body of an infant (or an adult) with vaccines is a sinister activity, destroying human DNA and the integrity of the human genome." So there you have it. A spiritual battle. Forgive me if I find it a less than-compelling reason to introduce dangerous diseases into our community.

Jewish Daily Forward : Gaza Tunnels: What Did Israel Know, When Did It Know? – Tyler Too – Forward.com

Good piece. As for your last point, it's astonishing how many television people seem to confuse the north tunnels with the south tunnels. I've seen the same on BBC, CNN, and others, with anchors mentioning the tunnels Israel is now destroying as if they're Gaza's economic lifelines. Shocking that so few Israeli spokespeople have sought to correct the misconception.

Jewish Daily Forward : On Father’s Day, Commit to Ending Violence Against Women – Forward Thinking – Forw

This column is well-intentioned, but the timing is badly off-putting and offensive. There are lots of media messages nowadays vilifying maleness. We have come to believe as a society that MEN, as a gender, are responsible for women's problems. This is untrue. Society--men and women both--are responsible for ALL social problems. It is no more incumbent on a man to fix an issue that has nothing to do with him personally, than it is for a woman. Men are not more capable than women for solving problems in far flung countries. I believe we should have at least one day a year when we can recognize men and fathers simply for who they are, and for one day stop pretending that it's all men, as a gender, who are somehow responsible for fixing everything. Food for thought: Imagine an article on Mother's Day holding women accountable for all the bad, neglectful, irresponsible mothers. I think we'd all rightfully find that offensive. So give fathers that same courtesy.

http://zeek.forward.com/ : ZEEK: Articles: The Leftist Ethicist — August

That response to the male educator is one of the sickest things I've read in a long time. (As is the question, honestly.) People should NOT be shamed and made to feel guilty for their attraction. Both men and women all have qualities they're attracted to; for some it's physical beauty, for others it's some other quality that makes them feel a certain way. Women often like men who exude confidence as an expression of their masculinity. This may or may not have anything to do with patriarchy, but if you think it's simply the patriarchy that makes men attracted to beautiful women, you are simply an idiot. As an aside, I really pity this man's students, who are getting his guilt-suffused hogwash. Then we wonder why we can't seem to figure out gender in this country. STOP making people feel guilty for things that are not wrong.

Jewish Daily Forward : At Massive Anti-Draft Protest, Haredi Jews Came Together — But Not on Zionism – Forward

Ultimately, it's just for their own people. They need to reinforce their old obsolete 'shytta', and to fantasize that they're still taking a stand and being heard. It's not about having an impact on others, it's about justifying their own existence.

ANIMAL : Watch a Group of Hasids Terrorize a Williamsburg Cyclist

Grow up, this has nothing to do with religion. The car driver was clearly a douchebag. The cyclist was clearly looking for trouble. And AnimalNY clearly has a bigotry problem. This isn't a Hasidic or Jewish or religious issue. This is about two people, individuals, one of whom seems to be looking for a fight and the other very foolishly taking the bait. And AnimalNY needs to spin it for their bigoted agenda. Let people live. Follow the rules of the road. Be decent human being, and we'll all live better together.

Jewish Daily Forward : Why A Sarcastic People Didn\'t Seem To Have a Word for Sarcasm – Forward.com

Surprised you didn't mention the old term 'loshn sagi-nohir' (לשון סגי נהיר). Technically Aramaic and from the Talmud, but used by Yiddish speakers to indicate something for which the opposite is true. I.e. A blind man referred to as sagi-nohir, or "one of great vision." At least among Hasidim, this is an expression known to every cheder boy.

Oh, for g*dsakes, can you be a little less transparent in your bigotry? No Haredi rabbi condones drug trafficking, nor is there any evidence that Haredim engage in it in any disproportionate numbers. Stick to criticizing Haredim for their backward views, I'm totally with you on that. But don't become a flaming bigot while doing it.

You are in fact very wrong. Chasidim in Satmar, Belz, Vizhnitz, Skver, Pupa and many (most?) others bury men and women in different sections. It's legitimate to ask why, but you can't dispute the facts.
