When any of them were turned down, no one hear of them trying to sneak in here just because they were told no. When they got rejected they went back on the boat where they came from and lived their life there. Maybe a solution for this situation could be that making working visa a little easier to get so more people aren’t forced to sneak over more. But I would never help an illegal immigrant come to America because it is wrong and they do not deserve everything we have worked hard for.

Do you not understand the word illegal? For people who don’t care that illegal immigrants are here, maybe they should step back and look at the big picture and realize that they should not be here. Like I said earlier, what if I went to another country to live and I was illegal? What if a bunch of people started to follow what I was doing and then hundreds of us were going to that country just to have a “better life”. Just taking peoples’ money and jobs right from underneath of them. Illegal immigrants need to pay their way here just like all of our ancestors did. None of them came sneaking into the country to find a better life and steal jobs and money from people. They all made their way here the way they were told to and waited in line at Ellis Island to get a yes or no.

No, I would not help any illegal immigrant come into our country. If someone really wants to be a part of our country they should try to get a visa or green card to come over. What if it was the opposite way and we were trying to go to their country. I’m sure many of them would not want us to come into their country and in a way overflow it. Many of the immigrants are taking jobs away from our people because of them coming over and working for cheaper. This is also illegal for a reason! If anyone were to help an immigrant come over to America, not only would they get in trouble but so would the person who helped them come over and it would not be helpful at all. Also, like the example Sam gave in class and showed us the guy who got bit by the dog. Illegal immigrants are coming over here and getting money from the government from the taxes we pay. How do you feel knowing that all of your tax money is going to an illegal immigrant who is just mooching off of us? We all work hard every day to try to earn the money we need to be financially stable and then they come over and try to take jobs away from us and take our tax money. People should not even stick up for illegal immigrants.

If you really think about it, in most situation nepotism is really unfair. What if your friend worked at the movies and you got a cheaper ticket than others. That is not fair to the person behind me paying the full price. Of course for that person, nepotism is helpful for them, and I’m not saying that I would ever turn down nepotism, but we should really think about the situation before acting upon it.

Right there is nepotism. Because you know the person, you get the hook up and the other person is stuck looking for a job still. If that happened in my situation I know of course I would take it as well. Americans today like when things are handed to them on a silver platter, rather than having to battle the real way to make it to the end. I do not believe that nepotism is very helpful though for some people. What if when you go into the real world trying to find a job you know someone. You may have never done the job before but because you know the person you are confident in getting the job. But then you have someone who really is qualified for the job and you know that the other person really should get the job. What would you do? Do you say to your friend give it to the other person, or do you still take the job? I’m sure may people would take the job because then they know they don’t have to search any longer. When it comes to nepotism in the work place, managers and bosses really need to consider who is actually qualified for the job rather than who is their friend.

After learning about nepotism and what exactly it means, I agree with Sam that none of us can honestly say that we have never benefitted from it. If everyone had the opportunity to get a job, or into a certain school, or anything really, not one would turn it down. If you are a person who would say “I would never do that, I would want to get the job fairly”, they are wrong and not honest with themselves. Over the summer many college students come home and most of them plus high school students are looking for a job. In some situations, the high school kids may get the jobs over the college students because they won’t be leaving in a few months. But say that your friends dad was the manager and he was offering you the job over the high school student even though it is easier to higher the high school student. Of course you will take it because it’s a job and now your search is over. Or what if the other person is more qualified for the job and they have done the exact same job just at another business.

Yesterday is when I learned that Iraq has a lot of oil and that is exactly what we need. Picturing myself as an Iraq women and knowing that the only reason why American’s are here is for my oil really would make me upset. I would not just go over to America and steal food, clean water, clothes, and other resources I may need just because they have more of it than I do. There is a reason why countries sign treaties and agreements like that to trade things evenly. Like what Sam was saying in class how you would not want people to just come over and steal YOUR oil, or your food, or whatever a person may need. So why then are you coming over to my country to take my oil? This exercise really made me change the way I see not only Arabs, but also the way were run our world.

Arab people being threatened, they can’t go on airplanes without being checked out and other things like that. As I thought about it, it made me feel bad for them with how they were being treated. I would never want someone doing things like that to me just because of a few people in my country that were bad people. Every country has many people who are bad and who kill others. The people who are related to them don’t get tortured when they go out and do things.
Another thing that was interesting was to find out that the only reason why we are still in Iraq is for their oil. I have been wondering for years why we were still over there when most people over there seem happy now that Saddam Hussein is gone.

When 9/11 first occurred, I was in fourth grade and I did not really understand what was going on. As years have gone on, I now understand why parents were so upset when 9/11 happened. When most people see an Arab, they will be like go back to your own country, or say things about 9/11. When we had the discussion with the Arab kids, it really made me think about different situations and if I were them how I would fee. While watching the videos in class, I was thinking to myself of what if those were my children, or what if I lived there and those children were me? While I was growing up and learning more about 9/11, there was one news article that showed many Iraqi people happy that Saddam Hussein has been caught. I also remember watching many people thanking the American soldiers for everything they are doing. As I put myself in their situation I thought back to everything that has been happening since 9/11.

I feel like this is probably for most people who go abroad though. When you don’t know how to speak another person language it makes you look like the minority and some people are not willing to help or will look down upon you. It’s like when a Spanish speaking person goes into a store in America and the person can only speak English. It makes you feel uncomfortable being there because you don’t know what else to do beside speak your own language or try to point things out to make connections to what you are trying to say. One of the great things about America is that there are so many different languages depending on where you come from and by learning another one, it can help out a lot in your future.
