The breed , pitbulls, were developed and bred for fighting and even though the way they are treated, raised affects their individual personalities , that ,will, or instinct to attack is present within every one of them, even the nice calm ones. That is why you often hear the comments made after an attack that "he has never been agresive before this". Beagles were bred for rabbit hunting, almost any beagle will automatically, instinctively, run a rabbit though it has not been "trained" to do so. It doesn't need to be trained it is bred into them, it is in the genes, or DNA, the same as a pitbull has the fighting gene. So any prudent pitbull owner will not ignore or deny this inherent trait bred into these dogs and will take steps to control them and prevent these all to frequent attacks. But the point has well been made here that the breed appeals to many who have not the scruples to raise or handle such an animal in a safe manner. Indeed the vicous nature, real or percieved, is why they own one. Which brings us back to the question should we ban the dogs or the idiots that let them run loose??
