Ya know, if these people put half the effort they put into these worthless initiatives into something more productive, the world would be a much better place. Ah, priorities.

Not just the right coaching, but the right environment. These girls are true citizens as well as superb athletes. They are role models to each other and to their community. This in-turn makes for a tightly-knit team of friends. That all translates onto the court.

GazetteOnline.com : Plans progressing for PCI’s medical mall

Notice the one line in the article that gives us opponents of closing 2nd ave. some hope: "Council members still must vote two more times on the street closure request, with the final vote slated for spring 2011." We have a chance, people, to come together and speak out against the closing of yet ANOTHER road leading us into downtown, thereby further choking off the accessibility that we've had for so many years. Begin writing letters to the editor. Call YOUR city council members and let them know of your disapproval. Blog about it or express concern in your Facebook status. If enough of us put our 2 cents in, eventually the pennies will add up. There are enough of us out there that we can make them change their minds so that we can prevent madness similar to that of the new Federal courthouse that happens to be sitting right on the river...hmmm...points to ponder.

GazetteOnline.com : Vander Plaats touts campaign to oust Iowa justices

Gay/Lesbian rights should NOT be a political issue. However, Bob VP here seems to be holding true to "his" party. Does he really believe in this or is he living up to the expectations set out by the Republican party. If this is the case, then we need to reconsider partisan politics. People should run for office based on their personal opinions regarding each individual issue. One shouldn't be expected to follow a specific checklist when running for office or voting for a specific candidate. On the other hand, if Bob VP seriously wants gay/lesbian marriage rights stripped away, then perhaps he should pack his bags and move to some place that accepts those that live their lives in hate and bigotry. This is 2010. If you haven't figured out by now that allowing gays to marry does NOT affect your life or your supposed afterlife, then you're living in the wrong place and time, sir. Love thy neighbor...UNLESS THEY'RE NOT LIKE YOU! Not here, Bob. Cause your raucous someplace else. We won't tolerate it here.

GazetteOnline.com : Bye-bye to the buy-local program?

Do NOT cancel this program entirely. I only with that other institutions in town would have such a policy. Why, when the Kernels "needed" a new brand identity, did they go to a firm in New York? We have perfectly talented people here in town. The buy-local mentality should be within us all.

GazetteOnline.com : Block by Block receives $750,000 grant

If you're doing good work, good on you. Thank you. I'm not personally a flood victim but our group was displaced by the flood and we worked for nearly 6 months to get our home back to "normal". When did I suggest that anyone boycott anyone? And who are you, anyway? If you are who I think you are, you are not responsible for our site "taking off". You lent a hand. Not one person is responsible for the success of our group, not even me. I just play a large part in the successes that we experience and enjoy. I certainly can't do it alone. I believe that l speak for everyone involved in any volunteer effort when I say that it takes a great number of people in a tightly-knit team to make a positive difference in any community.

Not a dime. I've been associated with the group for several years now and have yet to see a dime. And the last time I checked, the director of The Red Cross receives a paycheck for the work they do. I'm motivated by the mission of the group and the positive words I hear from those affected by the work we do. Perhaps if there were more people who were motivated by words alone, the world would be a happier place. It's depressing to find people that complain everywhere about anything, especially without educating themselves before they speak. May I ask you what motivates you to do the good work you do, if in fact, you do GOOD work?

KCRG : The Last Straw for the Film Tax Credit Program? | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and We

I'm amazed that any tax incentive program that could be used to entice the spending of money in our state is causing such debate. How many film opportunities have we missed out on because of government bickering? Make this happen so that we can get production companies to our state! I'm sure there's more to it but if one were to judge this book by its cover, I would say that making the Film Tax Credit happen is a given!
