I'm meeting with a bishop next week about my future, and I'm not going to tell him that I snorted tea out of my nose reading this. He would.....probably not be pleased.

Oh my gosh I have met zero people in my life who have read this series. I need some real-life friends that I can freak out over those books with.

When I was in middle school a raccoon drowned my dog. Straight up "Where the Red Fern Grows"-style. Jumped on his head and drowned him in the pond. I've loathed the creatures ever since. Glad I am not alone.

"Lost 100% of my itness" is one of my new favorite phrases.

Your family is so cute Nicole, welcome back! So glad you're doing well, and I cannot wait to hear your probably-hilarious story!

Also, as a sidenote: I am one of the 30% weird dudes but not one of the 100% librarians, unless you count my embarrassingly extensive collection of Brian Jacques' complete life works as a library.

My family and I are creating a DAD MAGAZINE for my father for a Christmas present. Current article/questionnaires include:

"A Guide to Identifying the 'Good Grass.'"
"Are you complaining enough about the weather? Take our quiz!"
"When should you mow the grass?"
"Is your weedeater really broken? How to tell if your kid is really just trying to get out of chores."
"Dear Dad" (a "Dear Abby" for Dad Magazine)
"The Empty Nest Syndrome: Replacing your kids with appropriate pets."

And others, but these are my current favorites.

And a bonus maze: "Find the shortest way through town!"

Thank you, Jaya, Matt, Mallory, and Nicole, for inspiring such a great gift for my father!

That was, as promised, intensely strange. And it officially surpasses my previous favorite "strange laser lights/smoke machine/inexplicable '70s or '80s obsession with disco tropes" video, which used to be HOLY SHATNER.

I have so many feelings about making children play the piano. I began playing when I was four years old, at my own insistence, because I saw my older brother doing it. My mother started teaching me then, and eventually I moved on to a "real" teacher. Now I'm a piano major at a large university, and I love it. Piano is my whole life and existence (besides The Toast, of course!), but it would never have gotten that way if I hadn't wanted it. It is no fun to be forced to do something as an adult or as a child, but it is worse as a child because you understand even less about why you are being forced to play piano when you don't want to.

Also, as a sidenote: If it makes you feel any better, the Catholic Church has since become much more accepting and helpful with mental health problems. Some of my best talks with my problems have come with my parish priest. He's a wonderful soul.

When the murderer has the perfect explanation for what happened last night, I just love it. Oh man.

Also, how do you embed photos in the comment like that?
