$20K is not a lot of money in the "real world", but working in college it is. I sure didn't make this in college and I worked nearly full time! I'm not saying that he punishment is too lenient, but there has to be some sort of consequence and not to just let it be swept under the rug like many do. Lose the scholarship, etc.
Exploitation: ollege and pro sports is a business indeed and anyone in sports should know this when they walk thru the doors. Hell you could have exploited me all you want if I could just get rid of these college loans that I'm still paying off!

By the way, I'll take "Handy Mandy" over "Care Bears' any day. ;>)

Yes he is being punished. Since it was off season I don't think he should be kicked off the team, but he should face the "normal" consequences. But, Furious_Styles I have to totally disagree with you. Getting an OWI is not a big deal??? FYI, YES IT IS. What if this guy caused an accident/death? How about killed your spouse or child? I don't think 2-3 beers would have given him the high blood alcohol level that was reported earlier (.127?) No, they are not paid squat, but guess what? Chances are they are playing on a FULL SCHOLARSHIP which is $20G/year or so. Ferentz needs to stop recruiting all of these hoodlums that are constantly getting in trouble and bailing them out. I'd rather watch a poor football team who's players are role models/upstanding citizens than the Hawkeyes.
