I am pretty sure they will figure out who the bad guys are the same way they do now. They will look for people who commit crimes. Also Iowa is not a open carry state if you are permitted to carry a CONCEALED weapon, you must conceal it. So if you see someone walking around daytime with a gun in the open I would call the cops.

I want to see language on the ballot that says the the money going to streets will be in addition too what is currently spent on property taxes. Or that the money now used from property taxes for streets will be given back in the form of tax deductions. I can see what will happen right now. They will only use money from the sales tax for roads and the 20 million they are spending now they will find a new use for.

Did the state give them money or tax incentives? Since Amtrak is government owned I don't think they will pay taxes on income or property taxes on the stations, or even taxes on the purchases of equipment.

For many years before the flood the federal courthouse has not been adequate to meet the needs of federal departments located in Cedar Rapids. There are agencies spread all over town renting office space or in smaller federally owned buildings. The new courthouse allows them to all move under one roof.

I think you misread my post. I am fully staffed and happy with my employees at this time. And as far as I know they are happy too. We occasionally get larger jobs were we can temporarily hire additional workers, I would say 75% of the temp people I have working for me don't come back a second day, because either they are interested, or I am not interested.

What a novel idea pay for something instead of printing money. Come to think of it that might just work. At some point we need to have a limit on how much unemployment we can allow people to receive. At almost 2 years like it is now I think that is enough. I feel $34 billion we don't have could be better spent on something that might create more jobs. Because lets be honest someone collecting unemployment are not going to be creating any jobs. If you have the will to work there is work to be had and it is easily available. If you are picky on what you do to put food on the table then you will have much harder time getting work. So many times I hire temp's from labor ready and they have no will to break a sweat to earn a buck. These people are here on a paid job interview and show no interest in retaining employment.

GazetteOnline.com : Lucrative TV package next step for Texas, Big 12 survivors

Of course it was always going to get better than where it was before. Which is evidenced by the recent deals the Big Ten, SEC, and ACC have received. There is no clue where it will end up, but I would have to think it will be more then the ACC but less then the SEC. The big 12 also has agreements from Fox, ESPN/ABC to not reduce their current pay outs because of the lose of CU and NU. Which will generate another 18-20 million for the schools to split in the next 2 years before a new deal goes into effect.

You are misunderstanding what he said. The buyout money from CU and NU will be split evenly 10 ways and will likely be between $2-$3 million. What the 5 schools did do was offer up some of the extra money they will receive from NU and CU no longer being in the conference. That amount of money is unknown at this time. And when it will be paid is unknown as well. The new football contract starts in the 2012 football season not 2015.

GazetteOnline.com : Iowa State AD Pollard says Big 12 will emerge stronger

I am happy with the way this turned out for Iowa State. It really could not of ended any better for them. Sure it would of been nice to have it a little easier in the Big 10 for basketball and football, but there is nothing wrong with playing the best the sport has to offer. As for this happening again? Maybe down the road perhaps but once the new contract goes into effect the new buyouts will raise quite a bit too. And one thing to point out the formula for distributing funds in the big 12 didn't change. That means if ISU improves in both basketball and football they too can earn over $20 million per season.
