The fact that I can walk into the shop here in boulder and buy a AR-15/M1A1/Thompson and walk out in an hour is crazy. With that said I do own an AR. And would love to add a Thompson to my collection. All locked away with 0 access for my children to get to them. I do not have a CCP at this time. Not comfortable with that. But I do open carry when camping. I have seen, first hand what a firearm can do to a human. And a child for that matter. While in a fire department back east we responded to a man that had killed his child, wife and himself in there car parked in a park. Very disturbing. We need a balanced policy that will protect MY rights and restrict "there" rights. There is the rub... RE: the body armor. Did he buy that online? I do remember reading that Holmes had tried to get time at a shooting range but the owner had a bad feeling about him. We need more people alert to these wac jobs. Mind your own business is not always the best policy.

Steevo. I appreciate your response. "One MAJOR difference in these stories- in China NO ONE DIED". In the most recent knife attacks, no one died. I put that in because it was the most recent example, and amazingly almost on the same day. The other link provided has numerous accounts of knife wielding mentally ill males killing multiple children in school. No firearms used "Guns turn weaklings into killers - and YOU KNOW IT. " What I know, from my experience, is any weapon turns people into something different. Be it a knife, bat, gun, car, etc. Been there, dealt with that. I truly understand what you are saying and your prospective. I am not trying to poke at you, or belittle your point of view. And I get the reaction people are having. I grew up around firearms, but just "banning" them in my opinion does not solve the real root of the issue. I could go into the whole argument that more children are killed in car accidents, or are murdered at the hands of a parent than died at the hands of someone like this creep. But this is an emotional argument and not logical one. Logic would dictate we need more protection for our children. But on what font? Looking at the statistics on how children are killed and murdered, it would seem mass murder is on the lowest end of the scale. Would you agree? So we should protect from the unlikely and not deal with the reality of who are killing our children. And, as an adult, the likely hood of being involved in, let alone killed in a mass shooting are exceedingly remote. How remote.
