Big Peace : 2012 National Defense Authorization Act Assaults Constitutional Freedom

Read the Bill and thanks for pointing this out. Dont believe this was your tent however, what you just pointed out were two separate sections that can charge persons of interest i.e be charged under sec 1021 or sec 1022....So what this means is American citizens can not be charged under Sec 1022 but they can be charged under Sec 1021 BECAUSE 1021 says nothing at all about U.S. citizens as 1022 does. It is Sec 1021 which actually protects the U.S. gov to capture and detain a U.S. citizen but also target kill someone who is a citizen working with Al Qaeda as they had with Al Alwaki. I read this bill in its entirety and the killing of Al Awalki is exactly one of the reasons why Sec 1021 specifically was kept from mentioning anything about U.S. citizens. Thank you ma'am.

ObamaYo, What would you call those Americans affiliated with the Symbionese Liberation Army, the FALN, McVeigh, Unibomber, Padilla, etc??? Hippies? No they were terrorists...The author rightly made a valid point. Never did he say we were a Terrorist State. Nor could I see any attempt to justify our relations with other nations...Your reading comprehension is about as good as a 2 year old.

Big Peace : Congressman Tom Marino: No Time For Politics Harry!

Holger, Breitbart has always been a place for people to read up and debate. Debate is a healthy dialog among persons respectfully passing along ideas. What you just stated was rhetoric. To label a writer simply because he pointed out an issue which a Congressman fought for his people and a Demo dominated Senate blocked everything is childish. Because he wrote truth, you simply state that the guy is an idiot? Such statements are exactly why the Dem party is becoming a ruined party. You have no insight towards what is really going on so you just name call. Old and unworthy trick in the book that does no good.

Big Peace : Fighting Terrorism With Local Law Enforcement

Actually brother, left wing terrorism, while it may not be as austere to human life has actually costed the United States more economically than Islamic and Right wing terror combined due to the target of infrastructure. Yes, I understand that the World Trade Center was a major disaster to human life and economically however, if you took all of the left wing acts of terror and calculated the cost you would find that they are actually more threatening to our nation economically (not necessarily to human life) than the Islamists. Their are several reports about this that can be found out of U. of Maryland's START. Also, the author never used the word Islam or Islamic in this rather used radial extremists and I believe after observing his background some more he did this due to his knowledge of terrorism as a whole and not just Islamic terrorism. But, after researching some more about his take on Islam, I was able to find this...He isnt worried about writing some truth about the horrors founed within the religion. http://www.goldcoastchronicle.com/politics/prophe...

Again, maybe I am wrong here but you sound like your either a fed or a military service member who has little insight in domestic Law Enforcement counterterrorism operations. And trust me when I say this, nothing written in here is meant to belittle you or start some stupid online verbal fight. It is meant to show that some folks often times speak only with what they know and don’t know the whole picture or at least a good majority of the picture. And I personally believe that is exactly what you did here whether I am right or wrong.

6. “There's no way to keep a full stable of skilled CT or AT analysts in every state and city.” Again, this is the most subjective and biased statement pertaining state level intelligence operation centers and or fusion centers. You have obviously never walked into the New Jersey Regional Operations Intelligence Center or New York City’s intelligence center. Speaking of New York, I guarantee if you ever had the honor and privilege to accompany NYPD for one week in their AT/CT operations, you would recant your statements.

5. State level fusion centers, while greatly funded by the fed, are owned and operated by the individual state. Yes, some feds operate in them as well however, they more or less serve as coordinating agencies. State level fusion centers take tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence and create their own products for “Law Enforcement Sensitive” reporting that is often used in Federal Counterterrorism reports.

4. “Despite the very valuable 'boots on the ground' information local agencies can provide, they're never going to be as well oriented towards the full scope of the threat as a national level LE actor.” Really? How many feds are actually walking the streets speaking with local communities? Now, compare and contrast that with how many LE are doing such task. Claiming that LE are never going to be as well oriented towards the full scope of the national threat is ridiculous. In fact, if you ever worked law enforcement on a state and or local level, which I am sure you never did by your perceptions written, you would find that local LE have more insight to domestic criminal activities than the feds. In fact, the local LE’s conduct more counter organized criminal operations than the feds and often ARE the ones who obtain initial “Tips and Leads.” P.S. with this said, have you ever looked into the LEEP program? If not, I suggest you do considering NYPD, Philly, Chicago, Dallas, LA, and others have sent officers abroad to partake in such mission.

2. You stated “actual terrorism, which is almost always rooted in transnational Sunni extremism.” Well, that statement is completely inaccurate when referencing domestic terrorism here in the U.S considering left wing terrorism dominates domestic terrorist activities. In fact, if you combine right wing and Islamic terrorism activities inside the U.S. you will find that even with that calculation, left wing terrorism trumps both even when you combine the two. 3. Terrorism is a criminal activity whether anyone likes it or not. Criminals, in the U.S., are to be arrested by law enforcement be they federal, state, and or local.

I have to respectfully disagree with you and for a couple reasons. 1. You sound like you work in the government or military or are an academic student who swallowed a lot of Koolaid using words like “transnational.” Transnational refers to a borderless concept of global travel where international respects and accepts a world with borders. So, if your using the word transnational either you don’t respect or believe in a world with borders, your using it in the gist of terrorist who don’t respect and accept a world with borders, or you simply swallowed a lot of government jargon that actually inaccurately defines global terrorism.

Big Peace : Oslo Attacked And Islamists Initially Blamed: The Problems With Pattern Analysis

Nor did the author of this article. If you go back to his original article about Oslo, you will see that he placed an incredibly high percentage on the Islamunists and provided pretty good reason why that assessment was made. It is obvious that this guy has extensive experience in the intel world simply by not claiming his initial assessment to be a 100% certain "definite act of Islamic terrorism." I dont see him actually giving a 100% discount within this though either that he believes Islamunists are completely free from this event. After disecting this article, it could be very likley that he mentioned Jose Padilla and McVeigh for a reason...It took some time for authorities to find the links behind the Islamunists assistance with those two. I suspect that he had written about them for a reason. I could be wrong, but that is my assesment from this article. If that is the case, I believe this guy is doing a pretty good job going from the intel world to the open domain public writing simply by his abilities to cover his ass in what and how he writes.

Big Peace : TSA: New Intelligence Or Propaganda?

If any intelligence agency did actually collect this information and didnt actually make this up, you are 100% that TSA didnt collect this. They do not have an actual intelligence collection arm within their organization rather data knowledge managers and a few analysts. If any of this data was truly collected, I agree that it likely came from NSA considering they are the main SIGINT elements with our IC. And this is definitely a SIGINT subject unless it was revealed by a human through an interrogation--then it would be DOD, FBI, or OGA/CIA

How could anyone reasonably NOT have a bias against the TSA and this administration. Look what they have done against our own intelligence collectors by investigating them trying to actually prosecute them for their enhanced intelligence practices? Look at Operation Fast and Furious--who is investigating the Department of Justice to ensure Holder relinquishes his position and actually faces prosecution? Now NOBAMA wants not just $400 Billion out of the DOD budget rather he claims he wants $700 Billion--Something Gates said would destroy our Defense of this nation! Yet NOBAMA is illegally engaging in war in Lybia? Everyone has bias and prejudice its a fact of life--even our best intelligence analysts. Sorry JustJimToo, but I believe you missed the point behind his last paragraph asking such questions. He is leaving it up to the reader to decide and not trying to "tell people what to think." Not trying to cause conflict here at all rather simply trying to discuss this critically.

I believe the author was more or less making a point about the TSA statement being comical which is why the author specifically stressed the actual threat as "almost comical" considering he did point out that we should never underestimate the terrorists (para prior to the "almost comical" statement). Just my two cents worth.

Yes, you are correct that some explosives can detonate based off chemical reaction. HOWEVER, the report which TSA revealed never stated that was the type of explosive being questioned. In fact, the report never mentions the type of explosive in any fashion nor do they reveal the terrorist organizations discussing such matters. I am not disagreeing with your statement at all, I am just putting a point out there that the actual report was so vague, it is unlikely they even know they type of device you are speaking about. P.S. the device you are discussing still needs three components to make it actually work like the majority of any other explosive device.

Big Peace : A Lesson From Abdul Haq

Yup, the photo is the Abdul Haq who is dead however, there are many Abdul Haq's in Afghanistan and anyone that knows anything about the place would know that. Dont know why they used this photo.Maybe they couldnt find one of the living Abdul Haq who is a district gov there, who knows. I am sure the gov is not the only Abdul Haq though living there though either. But research shows that more than one Abdul Haq lives in the country. Mr. Patton never said that the guy he interviewed was a former Taliban or a member of any other opposition group. He stated he was a former Muj. Many govs are former Muj. Makes me believe he may have been speaking to this guy. Just say'n. This would make sense though. http://en.rian.ru/world/20110226/162770954.html
