Big Government : Poll Confirms America's Entitlement Culture...Even Among Tea Partiers

I think what a lot of people don't realize is that when they go on Social Security and Medicare, they will be paid way more than they ever paid in. I've watched this with my mother for years. Granted, if the money taken from each of us had been invested and actually earned interest, maybe this wouldn't be the case, but alas, it isn't. It was a Ponzi scheme from the first and made worse by the theft of the money supposedly in the lock box. I'd be happy if the government would just give me back what I've contributed plus a modest interest rate so that I could invest that money myself and take me out of SS and Medicare in the future, but it ain't gonna happen! While we have to honor the promise (lie?) made to those over a certain age, the system MUST change for those below a certain age. Privatize, privatize, privatize.

"toddler in thief" I LOVE it! We must do much more than just 'hold out' though. We must EDUCATE those who don't pay much attention to politics so they can truly understand what the Progressives are doing to us!

Big Government : Team Obama Calls Out Swat Team on Tea Party Patriots!

First let me say that I wasn't there, so I cannot say exactly why the swat team was there. I believe that we must always strive to be credible, so consider this. IF the president was speaking at the building in the background, or somewhere nearby, then that is likely the reason that the swat team was there. It appears to me that there are several news trucks in the parking lot across the street and I doubt they were there to cover what appears to be a small Tea Party crowd. I ask each of you to seek truth and not overreact to what may be not what it seems. Again, we must always try to appear logical and reasonable, otherwise, we are no better than progressives. Now if indeed the swat team was called out solely for the Tea Party crowd, then that police department has egg all over its face! Or perhaps they were expecting illegal alien protesters...

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Mission Statement

I stand by my words and take offense at my comment being associated with the word "liberal". Sometimes, a comment will lend itself to broader interpretation, especially if you've read many of a person's comments and have developed a sense of their tone and attitude. I think he was being ugly and hateful; it's my opinion. My comment was written in the context of where we are. The 9/12 project is about people of both(or more) parties coming together and agreeing on common principles. If we can't even communicate in a courteous, respectful way there will be no chance of seeing if we have common goals and can work together. Read my comment again. I never suggested that anyone compromise their principles or accept all differences.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Want Public Assistance?

I agree with making welfare recipients work! Why should we have to hire private, city, county, state or federal menial labor if we have a huge bank of 'free' employees who are already being paid? Why should they NOT work for the money and benefits they receive? They may just learn a skill that can get them gainfully employed or even gain some pride of accomplishment. Oh but wait... these are the jobs that illegal aliens currently have...

I don't consider it to be a threat to anyone's civil liberties. You are not guaranteed government money to support you. Government assistance is not a right. You are always free to NOT take the money. If I accept a job with a company I am agreeing to certain conditions such as work hours, duties, benefits, etc. It is the same thing to me!

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Mission Statement

This was a story from my local paper today... In the past six years, eight people from Austin and one from Luling racked up 2,678 emergency room visits in Central Texas, costing hospitals, taxpayers and others $3 million. .....All nine speak English; three are homeless; five are women whose average age is 40, and four are men whose average age is 50. Seven have a mental health diagnosis and eight have a drug abuse diagnosis. Kitchen said she did not know their citizenship status.. The fact is that border states unfairly shoulder the financial cost of illegals. Educating them, taking care of their health care, costs associated with liability when their uninsured car crashes, not to mention the jobs they take from our citizens and the loss of tax revenue because they are "off the books".

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : As Seen in the Wall Street Journal - A Public Apology To The Harassed AIG Employees

Do you not realize that some of these people where given these bonuses in lieu of salaries if they stayed with the company and finished their workload as the company winds down? They worked for A DOLLAR! These employees WERE NOT the ones who were in the area that failed and their part of the company was and is profitable. CONGRESS inserted language in the Stimulus allowing these bonuses to be paid at the direction of Treasury, which was in on crafting the contracts. If we are to the point where we no longer honor contracts that we helped draw up and point fingers and threaten when we are made fools of because we signed a bill into law WITHOUT READING IT, then we have much, much work to do. Are you also aware that CONGRESS just paid millions in bonuses to their employees? The largest bonus was $100,000. That is OUR money as much as the bailout money was! It's the old "do as I say, not as I do". Now I do have a problem with paying huge bonuses to people, but there has got to be a better way! You cannot go back on your word(contract)!

In my humble opinion, the 9/12 project is about doing away with the UGLINESS that you espouse! We need to accept each other and our differences and PUT AWAY THE UGLINESS AND HATE that separate us so that we can work together to find solutions and our political voice! You will never succeed in reclaiming your country until you communicate with others with courtesy and respect instead of rudeness and contempt.

Why not teach people to provide for themselves? Why should I work hard to support my family and have to support someone else who is just as capable of working to support themselves but chooses not to? Note that I said 'chooses'. There are many out there who sit in the same classes with my children and have the same opportunities but choose not to take advantage of them. That is a personal choice and by making it, they lower their standard of living. Why should I raise it for them or lower mine to their level? This is the land of opportunity. That means you have the right to get an education, work hard and succeed, not that someone "owes" you a good living.

I agree wholeheartedly! In my daughter's school they taught Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism but they were not allowed to teach anything about Christianity or Paganism. How can children of today gain a balanced perspective if they are not presented with all of the facts? Teach all political and religious aspects and the strengths and weaknesses of them all and let them use their minds! They should also learn that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose and they should learn about honor and responsibility and self-sufficiency. There are far too many adults out there today that do not understand these concepts!
