The suburban schools are safe mostly from physical violence but the left wing agenda dominates. Here in Pine-Richland school district north of Pittsburgh, the high school Social Studies and English depts set up an annual event (symposium) and in 2009 they celebrated John Dewey, in 2010 they embraced Paulo Freire, a Brazilian Marxist education reformer, and in 2011 they featured Globalism and are continually pushing the idea of Global Citizenship. My school distirct in PA was vocal a few years ago in rejecting IB, altho many others here take part. BUT after we moved here and started having problems with the reform math, we looked deeper into the philosophies and saw that globalism is all throughout their strategic plan (reqd by PA Dept fo Ed every 6 years) and they are heavily involved in UN worshipping activities: Model UN, Mock G-20, OXFAM charity hunger event, multiculturalism. Needless to say there are no conservative activities for high school. Now they are building a $40 million addition to the high school, complete with a Global Studies Dept to incorporate social studies and world language courses. I guess this is our "innovative program" but after finding all this out I drive 60 miles a day to a private school and no one here seems to "get it" in our fairly upscale conservative area.
