At the time the estimated cost to bring the fuel to market was about $1.25 - $1.50 a gallon. These numbers came from a study done by University of Idaho who was looking into the viability of Ag based fuel sources. Even at $2.00 a gallon for biofuel it would still be cheaper than diesel has been in years. Back in 1999 you could get diesel fuel in Nevada for as little as $.89 a gallon. Back then biofuels were not cost effective. Excluding the problems of using biofuels in winter I see no reason they should not be a consideration today.
