Catawba College is one of the gems in Salisbury/Rowan. It is great to live in an area that has access to 4 institutions of higher learning. Especially now, during hard economic times, everyone should take advantage of the varied programs that are offered at these institutions to better their education. It opens more doors when job hunting.

This is the first time I have written a public comment. The Sheriff of Rowan County is just like a CEO of a Corporation. Do CEO's report their time on the job. No, they work 24/7, just like a Sheriff. It always helps to have a written agreement outlining the job responsibilities, duties and compensation of your job. It seems like the Sheriff is just asking for clearification. He is not asking for anything but a written or recorded agreement with the County he serves. I can see why I have avoided commenting like this ever before. The rest of you blow hards, get a job, and maybe a little more education before you jump to conclusions and blow your horn again.

It seems to me that when you ask a question, it is just that. A question. Why do people always assume the worst?These negative assumptions leave a negative impression of Rowan County. That goes for the Editor of this paper. Do you just say unfounded statements to get the people of Rowan County going? Maybe creating conflict sells more papers!
