Of course he was wrong! He admitted to raping the woman...so his name belongs on the sex offender registry! Read the article, he plead GUILTY to raping the woman. Oh, and this comment is to Snoman, below... even IF someone is drunk or flaunts their body around, it does NOT give a man the right to have sex with her! Obviously some men think with the wrong "head" and feel it gives them a right because they were being a tease. Even if she "parlayed her sexual prowess with the intent of getting a reduced sentence" he should have known better...and yet he obviously thought with the wrong head again! At least he was smart enough to plead guilty....which is a total shock!

Just an FYI...I have NEVER stated if I was a man or a woman, and I sure as heck never claimed to be a gay male! The "exchange" as you would call it (A comment on here) was me sticking up for those who are homosexual. I am an open minded individual who does not judge those who are in homosexual relationships. There is more going on in the world to worry about whether it's right or wrong for a man or woman to be in a relationship with the same sex. It's their choice, no one elses.

No, the woman was not intoxicated when she met with the attorney. It still doesn't give him the right to put his hands on her, or to force her to have sex with him. Force can be used in different ways....mentally AND physically! I'm sure he probably forced her to have sex with him by promising things to her (lessened charge) and scared her into having sex with him. Either way, if he didn't do it, he shouldn't plead guilty to it! His name belongs on the sex offender registry!

Quite honestly Thor, it seems to me that you DO classify all women in the same group, especially after your comment to Shellie, which was completely uncalled for!

Thor... I think you would think ANYTHING is a double standard concerning men and women to be honest with you. Not all men are the same as one another, and not all females are the same as one another. Women should be able to fight on the front lines of war and get paid as much as men do. I know some women who are clearly smarter than some men. There are men who DO take advantage of women...but there are also women who take advantage of men too.

Carl Gabrielse originally was assigned to prosecute her case, but during a meeting with the woman, forced her to have sex and then lowered the charge. He pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct in April and was given a delayed sentence.

Now, if you were a smart man, you would realize that if Mr. Gabrielse was indeed an innocent man, he would have never plead guilty to criminal sexual conduct. He knows how the law works, he's a lawyer! Just because the female followed him to a secluded corner does not mean she knew it was going to be secluded or that he was going to force her to have sex with him! He raped the woman, and he plead guilty to doing it. His name BELONGS on the sex offender list with every other rapist and CSCer!

EXACTLY!!! That's what I have been trying to say ALL along Mitchie!!! However, certain men on here seem to say the female "took advantage" of the guy, or that she knew they were going to have sex because she followed him to a secluded area...what BS! Don't get me wrong, there are SOME females out there who do do these types of things to set men up, but calling this girl a slut or skank and HE was the one who plead guilty...utter BS! He should also have to register on the sex offender list, this is what ticks me off the most! Any other offender who has a criminal sexual conduct charge HAS to register as a sex offender, what makes him so much more above the law?!?!

First off...I NEVER claimed to be a "dude". I have never in the past said I was male, I think you just automatically assumed because I work as a C/O inside a male prison that I am male. Which, I am not!

IF you read the story above you would see it was classified as a rape. Carl Gabrielse originally was assigned to prosecute her case, but during a meeting with the woman, forced her to have sex and then lowered the charge. He pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct in April and was given a delayed sentence.

If Mr. Gabrielse did not rape the woman then he should never have plead guilty. If he was such a nice guy he would have just did his job and offered her a plea deal, WITHOUT expecting some sort of "payment" from her. Even IF the female went back willingly, she may have felt obligated to do so out of fear. This man took total advantage of the situation. If he were any type of DECENT man he never would have done so. Obviously both the man and woman in this story have issues.

Quite honestly, ALL cities AND states should ban ANY type of discrimination! Discrimination against someone's race, sexuality, or religion is ridiculous! If we were all made the same this would be a VERY boring world!!! I have friends of ALL color, friends who are homosexual, bisexual and transsexual, and I could care less about someone's religion! I don't care for people who try to shove their beliefs down my throat, but I am open to discussion about what they think and why they think the way they do. My parents are both very close minded people, and they can be racist at times... I guess I am definitely not a victim of their close mindedness, but many children are. Be careful about the things you say around them, it teaches them hatred towards others...just because their parents don't agree with it. Good Luck Mr. Freeman!

Honestly Thor...the attorney took her to a secluded area. He KNEW what was going to happen, and who knows, maybe she did too, or maybe not. His job holds him to higher standards than the average citizen AND as an attorney, he should have known better than to take someone to a secluded corner...even IF he got set up, it was his stupidity to allow it to happen. He was definitely in the wrong, and perhaps she was too. If she did lie about being raped then her (_)_) should go to jail for perjury. If the attorney pled guilty to a CSC charge then his name BELONGS on the sex offender registry just as every other sex offenders does! Men or Women that get caught taking a leak in public get their names added to the sex offender list for indecent exposure, and this attorney gets 6 months in jail and probation? A slap on the wrist if you ask me! This woman was THREE times the legal limit and obviously wasn't in her right mind...so the attorney took FULL advantage of her. I don't think everything these days is rape and that women take advantage of it. SOME women do take advantage of it...and those women should get HARSH punishments for lying about rape! It makes it hard for police to believe the truth when it really happens to women. How was this woman a skank and a slut? She may have went with him to a secluded area, but that does not make her a skank or a slut. It just made her unaware of her surroundings and probably not very smart! Not all women are alike, so please do not classify us all in the same group!

First of all...this a-hole made his OWN choice...he raped someone! He gets off not being put on the sex offender list too? This is BULL S H I T! Someone who gets in trouble for indecent exposure has to register as a sex offender...yet this rapist gets away with not having to register?!?! Unbelievable... It's like the court is saying it's ok to force someone to to have sex with you and then you get away with everything. What a slap in the face to all rape victims!

I'm sorry, but I find that HIGHLY insulting! I work for the MDOC and perhaps SOME staff members may end up acting like filth, NOT all people do! I feel that I am a very good role model for the prisoners where I work! I treat all inmates respectfully until they give me a reason not to. I believe in the golden rule, treat others as you would want to be treated. I prefer to be a role model, hoping maybe an inmate will decide he would rather be a role model for others instead of a criminal. I'm not blind, I know not all inmates will change, but some certainly do!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Douglas Stewart is the "only person of interest" in the disappearance of his wife, Venus Stewart, from her parents Colon Township home more than two weeks ago, Lt. Mike Risko of the Michigan State Police said.

Police also believe Stewart may have left his home in Newport News, Va., and may be headed to Michigan.

A search warrant of his truck revealed an "apparent blood stain," though no results are back from the lab.

Virginia affiliate station WAVY confirmed Douglas Stewart at one time served in the Marines and was based at Camp Lejeune . His criminal lawyer in Michigan is Jeffrey M. Schroder of Hettinger & Hettinger.

The "suspicious person" shown in a police sketch released last week is only wanted for questioning and may not even be related to this case, police said. He is not considered a person of interest.

24 Hour News 8 will continue to follow the developments in this story.

WHERE in this story does it say ANYTHING about a shovel and a tarp??? It said bloodstains...and that could be from anything at this point. If he had the truck while they were together there could be bloodstains... no one knows anything for certain. I hope the lawyers have 100% DNA evidence and proof before they start trying to put this man in prison!!! Convicted of something that no one even knows if he has done or not...how nice is that?! Hopefully nothing ever happens where you get blamed and you didn't do it!
