RTE Sport : Gerrard dreading emotional Anfield farewell - RTÉ Sport

Not sure why he is leaving whilst he can still be a positive influence at the club. Rodgers could certainly do with him. He could have played the kind of role that Giggs did in the latter days of Ferguson. For those old enough to remember also the role Dave Mackay played at Derby in the Cloughie era. Is money the driver here? If next year can be a better season why not back it up with his presence?

RTE Sport : O\'Driscoll hails Cheika\'s Leinster influence - RTÉ Sport

Fair enough on the 'Lunster' reference. Munster have a wonderful tradition but it's much more healthy now that there is pride and real competitiveness not only by Leinster but the other provinces too. Four strong provinces well supported bode well for the national team.

Not a fan of TT by any means but I met Jason Orange by pure accident in a Dublin airport lounge the morning after their last concert here. He was just a nice bloke - no BS and took the time to talk despite his minders wanting to cut the conversation short. Probably just wants to get on with his life.

RTE Sport : McGrath: We can still find H Cup solution - RTÉ Sport

I guess cup competitions come and go (anyone remember the inter city fairs cup in European soccer?), so if the Heino is replaced with an equivalent high standard European competition then so be it. The main thing is that the IRB maintain control of where the sport is going and where the cash is spent. If the IRB are not in control then we could end up with the Kerry Packer cricket mess of the 70's. Pay TV is a reality wheter we like it or not. We need to be sure though that the money raised goes to the sport including the players rather than to commercial folks looking to make quick money.

As a Mayoman, we need to keep cool. One good result against poor opposition doesn't mean a whole lot. We will likely progress out of Connacht but then we will see....years of pain will only be overcome by steely determination (ask Donegal) and the desire to be a winner.

That was a fantastic goal. He was pretty ordinary most of the game but delivered in a few brief seconds near the end.
