We should assert States sovereignty. Some states already have resolutions declaring this right. A portion of Missouri HCR 13 reads: "Be it further resolved that this concurrent resolution serve as Notice and Demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers:" This demand is based on the tenth amendment to the constitution. Ask your state legislators to take similar actions and stay after the federal government until they hear us.
