"if you want to keep your current plan, you can - no one will force you to change". really? how many people pay for 100% of their insurance premium? very few. very few. sure, you can keep your current plan, if you are willing to pay 100% of it. if your employer (like wal mart) decides to maximize their profits and cut or eliminate their contribution, what 'choice' will you have? if a company can drop their contribution for a public plan - they'll do it, and don't count on them giving you a bump in pay to help you cover your premium! the government has a clear track record. they can't manage this monster. no way. now if there is serious tort reform, elimination of 'exclusive' insurance borders so there is competition (say Iowa BCBS offers coverage for floirdians, etc), THEN maybe costs will go down. just like 'taxpayers for clunkers' this is another boondoggle.
